The first race of the World Cup Downhill season means plenty of new things to try. Rick Schubert looks scouts the tech in South Korea to find everything from Reece's crazy setup to anti-lock brakes to prototype goods. Go fast, takes chances (with your tech).

The stem heard 'round the world. Gamux going all in. Local race success has us wondering how it'll fair in the big leagues. Only out-of-the-box thing missing is a 32-inch wheel.

Quick scroll thoughts:

  • Does the e2e on the Gamux shock look wildly long??
  • AON Racing = Team I-Beam Racing
  • Bruni on ODI grips after running DEITY the past season or two
  • Looks like Jordan Williams has the previous gen AXS shifter, not a POD.
  • The Maven lever on the Commencal looks short, no?
  • Bar ends are so freaking in
  • On Tahnee’s bike, it looks like there is a screw head recessed in the spindle. Maybe it’s more weight?
  • Anyone know what chainring Trek is running with an Ochain? Doesn't look like the new XX chainring.
  • New Shimano rotors look cheap ngl. Not that looks matter on rotors
  • Hope doing the most with six pistons & four brake pads….remember, brakes only show you down

I’m not one for a lot of rules, but ABS in downhill racing is bullsquirt.

I think it's 6 piston and two pads or 12 pistons and four pads Smile

Cross drilled pistons too BTW. Very F1-esque Smile

ABS is wild. Look like it only works with a 220 rotor? Makes sense why they aren’t running Ice Tech then.

I think it's due to the standalone picture, that's the 32 tooth. The others are thicker / more filled in (I've got a 34 & 36).

Somebody in the comments on the other site said Dak was confirmed on a 32" front wheel for South Korea. Has anyone seen that? I haven't seen any evidence of Dak's bike with a 32" wheel anywhere.

I think you’re missing the joke.
No one wants to gamble limited practice time on a 32” wheel.
Scott gambler mentioned = Dak 32” confirmed

Or it’s intentional and they really have one

The V10 XL is 29" stock. Are you sure this isn't converting it to a 27.5"? The axle position suggests it's raising the rear end up to compensate for the smaller wheel.

I'm pretty sure you're right.  The axle position on Kolb's bike is clearly lower than the original, which would correspond to a 27.5 rear.
