the powermeter chainring might be ugly but it serves a purpose. training/racing with power values is a great training metric if you're a competitive athlete. For sure, it doesn't serve any applications for enduro bros who shuttle but for the right application, it's actually helpful (yet really expensive)
If you're a full on enduro bro measuring power on the descents is essential for your bragging rights.
Thanks for the TED talk.
@fuckingsteve We've been seeing the new calipers on racer's bikes since the second half of last years World Cup season.
@krabo83 It isn't noticeably difference from low res Instagram, but don't believe they would slap the designer 'un-named new product' stickers on an old SID. These stickers showing up on the new Boxxer and new Vivid Air shock. So makes sense this is a new/heavily updated SID.
How is the raceday damper compensated for the rod ingression? Does it have an IFP or a bladder? Could it be updated with a new damper? Changes to the spring maybe?
i think it‘s a bladder right now because weight?
Looks like revised crown and brake levers on Kate’s bike
early o chain prototype?
Courtney's bike probably has a prototype shock too, but I guess we'll never know. Those bastards at scott!
I would assume they are running a SID Lux from a weight point of view?
I think the intention is to smooth out the dead stroke part of the revolution or something along those lines. I think it was more often seen in the BMX crowd actually?
Steerer to crown connection taller/stronger for more fore-aft stiffness.
Also... Interesting 'wire' going from top of Kate's prototype SID fork to controls...
Pretty sure it's the twinloc, maybe it looks tiddy from that angle.
Great alternate angle. Looked like reallly thin housing in the photo with Kate's bike. But makes sense it's still mechanical as the wireless version would likely have a protrusion out the top for the electronics.
Nice view of the new AXS controller - seems like there's much more articulation for adjustment which should be nice
Even better picture from Vital
Doesn’t look like it’ll play nicely with the existing non-SRAM brake adapters.
I bet SRAM is very concerned, haha
Bug or feature?
I won't be surprised if SRAM and Shimano both keep moving towards proprietary everything; no more mixing and matching. SRAM's flat-top chain is an example...
Hey, so does anyone know when the new GT Sensor is supposed to be released?
I wasn’t able to get a photo (bad phone, not because I was told no photo) but the Pivot boys were getting around Queenstown Bike Park this afternoon on a new CNC lugged downhill bike with carbon tubing.
Not sure if this counts as team rumours or tech news so will post in both.
tech news!
What shock orientation?
The last version of the phoenix was released in 2019 as far as I can tell, so time wise it tracks.
Dirt lover: was it dw link? I mean did it look like a proto phoenix? Mullet?
That AXS shift doesn’t look slick at all….. also looks like a old Shimano SPD….
i guess it must do more? why change the design from the first generation AXS shifter.
I assume it's way more adjustable. The critics always said the old controller was not ergonomically adjustable.
SPD? or did you mean DI2? because that‘s what this new shifter reminds me of.
A hybrid of the two.. the old SPD pedals and the buttons of Di2
