Is White is the New Black?

i think they normally leave that sorta color arrangement as a roadside memorial to a cyclist who succumbed to a vehicular accident while out riding. But for any other reason, that person must have succumbed to poor judgement.... ew.

Well just like 2.8 tires, fanny packs, and oval chainrings, there's now a whole new generation of riders who just showed up since imba done growed the sport who haven't learned the lessons of the first time around. So again, a whole new population of consumers that will need to learn that white saddles, grips and tires just look disgusting after one ride. And those little scrapes and scuffs on expensive white powdercoated stuff just looks like complete uncleanable garbage after half a season.

So you know......profit!

Look. I get it. Bike companies want their stuff to stand out. Black is so universally desired. Media such as VMTB Yearly Lists will always try to push into a new direction to say they were ahead of the curve. Even when they are dead wrong, because nobody ever calls them on it.

Lesson 1: When it comes to colors there is no curve or real variable demand unless it is a brand/image tie in. Like Yeti-Teal, KTM-Orange, Husqvarna- White.

Primary colors appeal to males. Males buy 90+% of the MTB stuff.
Black ,Red, Blue,Yellow-In that order and black is the overwhelming preference since it appeals to our childlike fascination with evil and dark themes.

Lesson 2: White sucks as a vehicle color if you play in the dirt.

I like white saddles and grips on a bike or two! It's fun going the opposite direction of conventional wisdom sometimes and go the Roadie route, it ain't gonna kill me. Yeah, I have to clean them but I have to clean my bike anyway.

But regarding the bike posted above, I have nothing to say.
