Carol was in shock, scared to death, possibly injured with high emotions. Obviously not as skilled a rider as the guy behind her.
Flowboy was a tad defensive at first because it seemed he was keeping a mindful distance from her so as not to give the less experienced rider the heebie jeebies.
Yet he quickly realized he was in the wrong and accepted the fury being unleashed upon him. He repeatedly expressed sincere remorse for having caused the crash and showed genuine concern for Carol's well-being despite her being unable to calm down.
But he finally cracked the shell, his efforts were not wasted. Carol came to realize this rear-ending stranger who scared her to death and could have caused great harm wasn't the thoughtless evil monster she was making him out to be. He was just another fallable person like herself, if not kinder than she. For it was just last week she failed to apologize to a coworker for knocking them down as she sprinted for the closing elevator to meet a stressful deadline.
Flowboy sensed embarrassment emgerging from the emotional woman as the shock began to wear off. He started off down the trail graciously saving her from having to face the humiliation of her own errors as he just endured himself.
They later made friends in the parking lot and agreed to exchange riding lessons for homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Carol (the bitch) needs to take some Zanex or something because her response was not reasonable, appropriate, or normal.
It's funny that she thought she had "broken her leg" when she miraculously was able to throw her heavy freeride bike from a standing position and walk around 30 seconds later.
And lastly, her throwing her bike did more damage than her "crash" did. What a joke.
That lady was so irrational! it totally looked like she heard him coming and brake checked him, it obviously backfired as she came off worse. i feel for the guy though that must have ruined his day riding.... women
Guy was too nice, but what happened I believe is this males slef defence mechanism, it must be something primal. Our brains just switch to thinking: an angry woman is always right! never argue with an angry woman, especially one in pain.
But I have a tip here (a guide to a more enriching man-women on trail encounters): don't try to understand her, as you are unable to do taht, angry women don't understand each other either... just start listening passively - Quite shortly your male instinct will turn on a "stand-by mode" after which you won't remember a single word she said and you can continue enjoying your day...
aaah... alcohol works well in disrupting the first mechanism function...< but if its your girl/wife, that won't do you any good at all/p>
Such a horrible person this woman. A.you did it on purpose, b. you threw your BIKE at someone, and c. you faked injury and used it to rile up the gathering crowd.
Don't worry though, because d. will be around soon enough and if you think you're such a badass - wait 'til you meet KARMA. That's one perma-PMS bitch with an attitude...and you two will become intimate friends one of these days...
100 MPH huh? Barely 25 maybe. Carol has issues and shouldn't be allowed near people. If she's unable to apologize to a coworker then why is she so righteous to tell another biker how to ride? She's a bitch. I would have thrown her bike off the trail if she came at me like that........ghost ride it and let her walk. And holy crap- can you wear more armor and look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?!?
On the PB vid....looks like the helmet cam wearer and his buddies should be doing more than just asking "are you okay" when someone keeps passing...
On the PB vid....looks like the helmet cam wearer and his buddies should be doing more than just asking "are you okay" when someone keeps passing out like that. Jeez!
On similar note check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OA1huzzt-0Q 2:15 mark.
DEFINITELY chick's fault. He tried to pass her for a couple hundred yards on WIDE singletrack with that 8itch swerving all over the trail that she was going WAY too slow on then then she stops completely on the MIDDLE LINE of a bermed turn. Stop anywhere else in that turn and there would've been passing space. It's obviously a park trail with a decent rider volume. If you're slower get the fvck out of the way. He didn't owe her an apology for $hit.
My advice to her would be to take up knitting or some other equally dangerous past time so that she can no longer be either a danger to other bikers or an embarrassment to the rest of her gender.
Wow. If she's that scared maybe this isn't for her. And as everyone sais never stop in the middle. He did nothing wrong and bravo to you dude for staying and apologizing.
I love all the comments! You know I quess I could have bailed but, I really didnt expect her to stop. The good news is that it will be featured on a upcoming tv show. I set up a facebook page to keep everyone in the loop. Search Fender Bender Freakout on facebook. I hope to see you guys there!

We'd all be better off if people like this chick would just not ride bikes.
If you're not prepared to fall and possibly get hurt don't bother getting on the bike and take up trail space that I wanna use.
why doesn't the dude ever ask - 'whatsup with the brake check, beeotch??!"
No your not wrong its wasn't anyones fault. Its part of the game!
"what are you in a big rush!?" oops, everyone knows mtb trails are much more fun while going piss slow.
