I'm just some 44 year old ex-BMX racer and BMX street rider that has taken up racing Downhill and continuing to ride street but on a 26" BlkMrkt. I have participated in races like this in the past and at risk of sounding crass, I don't give a rats ass about the drivers. Most drivers don't care about my safety anyway as exemplified by the honks and fingers I get when I'm obeying traffic laws. The world is a dangerous place and we ALL take risks daily (downhill racing, jumping, or walking in traffic for that matter). I take responsibility for my actions. If you hit me, that's probably my fault. The risk is the rush, just like other types of aggressive bike riding. So if you see...

Last Thanksgiving I broke my leg in three places and my nose and face in 9. I'm thankful I was able to recover and still race all summer. Now lets eat some bird!

I agree with Jackhill. I can do grinds and 180's down stairs on my daughters 16 inch Princess bike but that doesn't make it cool...just weird and limited. These bikes are starting to look like 26 inch street bikes now so why not just ride a REAL bike? I will sum this up by saying..... Meh.

I'm with sspomer. I need to work on pushing the front wheel through corners so the tire sticks and I maintain momentum. I need to heal up from a badly broken leg in time for the DH race season. Lastly, more riding time (jobs really limit riding time).
