Does anyone ride with back brake on left and front on right? I am in the us and no one rides with switched brakes but it just feels better for me to ride with is there any downsides to doing this I ride a downhill bike
Do what makes you happy. Only downside is that when someone jumps on your bike to try it out it will be weird for them, or if you try someone else's bike or demo a bike it will be strange for you. I had a friend setup that way and it was confusing for my brain to ride his bike.
Many moons ago before I bought a dirt bike for trail riding a friend had suggested I switch me levers to adapt to the right front brake moto, so about a month before I got the moto I switched.
Over 20 years later and I never switched back. I have ridden a few borrowed bikes that are not switched and find I can ride it fine, just takes more concentration.
I run moto style for brakes and it is definitely preferable. The benefits, aside from functional alignment with a motorcycle setup, is that I'm right hand dominant, and thus have a finer level of control of my primary (front) brake. The only downside is a big one though. Renting bikes in the US means I need to switch back to US style and that's pretty much impossible to do in anything less than a few days of riding.
I ride MX and MTB and I have no trouble switching between brake modes. In fact, if I go moto-style on the bicycle, the way they do it in EU, Australia and the like, it messes me up.
yeah all us Aussies and Kiwi's. You guys are wrong
in the states i've heard it called "moto style" and have met a few people that prefer it.
All the Euros too afaik...
Nope.
It only makes sense if you are riding a moto and you don't want to feel like le-learning how to brake every time you ride one or another.
In the UK it's back brake left front right.
I.e the correct way 😁

Non euro and yes I run moto style.
