Here's my setup. I have a 11sp XX1 drive train so I made the guides smaller with velcro tape. Ninja fin on the underside for extra silence.

Is the ninja fin something you homebrewed or a product?  I suspect a lot of the noise and chain flailing is on the underside.  The stronger clutch in the Transmission derailleur helps vs. the old Eagle ones, but OChain would definitely help more with this in my experience (since it reduces the actual chain movement rather than trying to deaden the hits).

Interesting product, good price, but out of stock.  And while they ship to places like Iraq, they don't ship to USA.  🤣

Seems like Garbaruk 104BCD ring in 30T explicitly claims compatibility with OChain, as well as shimano HG+ which is nice. That might be the ticket… I spend a ton of time in granny gear so hopefully the 2mm offset isn’t too bad.

Would you mind posting a photo of how you did that?  I actually have an STFU sitting in my drawer but held off on installing it because I was hesitant to cut off fins on the stock chainstay protector on something that may or may not help.  I ride right foot back, and have definitely noticed the chain slaps my crank arm.  I put a bit of mastic tape on the end of it that helped a tiny bit.

I believe I tried to get the smaller DH style STFU to work, but it wasn't big enough to prevent rubbing at the top or bottom of cassette. Just zip tie it on over the fins to get the height/position right before you cut out a spot for it. Height depends on cassette and chain ring size.

How did you get 150 mm out of a tall boy?!

How did you get 150 mm out of a tall boy?!

With a Cascade link pushing on a Marzocchi Bomber CR in 7.5" x 2.0" size (instead of the stock 190mm x 45mm).

Travel is just under 150mm, it's the best "trail bike" I have ever had.

I asked DT a couple months ago too, they said no plans.

So you have to already have a DEG 240 or 350 hub , if you don’t have one it’s $350 or $500 depending what one you wants. Then another $200 for the DF system to put in your hub.

O chain is sounding better and better at $400 and I can run it on any rear hub

The DEG upgrade is around 100 EUR. I also plan on getting an HG cassette, because I',m building a DH bike from the parts I have around and a Shimano 10 speed transmission with road cogs is cheap and efficient and I already have some parts of it.

I am curious how it will fare, compared to the O-Chain N I have on my Slayer and totally love.

I posted in USD, still haven’t seen anything as cheap as you mention

The amount of chain dancing on my 2020 slayer is insane.

The right side of my rear rim is full of little nicks from the chain taking bites out of it and the crank arm on my trailing foot has been worn away in a distinctly chain-like pattern.

STFU seems to have worked well for me.

The major benefit of the Ochain R over all of the other options – at least as far as I see it – is its external control of the float angle, i.e. you can set it to 0° while climbing then reach down and open the dial for the descent.  If I were looking for one of these devices and the additional maintenance wasn't a concern, it would be my pick.

Not really an on the fly adjustment, the dial is rather hard to turn. Something you would change based on the trails you are riding or the course you are racing, not something you would adjust at the top of every climb in my experience at least.

Where the ring itself is threaded and there is a standoff from the 104bcd spider. RaceFace and Praxis Works used to make them, maybe others as well.

I used that same ring on my non adjustable Ochain with a little grinding, but found that would require grinding to the point of it will probably fail quickly in order to clear the adjust knob on the adjustable version.
