Nice review with two things to praise - thank god someone put lighter tires on a 140mm bike and admitted it made it better! - great to see how the bearings coped with the abuse!

I am over 200lbs and what you described with the fork is exactly what I have been experiencing with FOX every time I test rode a bike with it or had it installed on a new bike. I have to say that I just demoed for a month the 2021 FOX 36 Rhythm with basic Grip damper and so far I was quite impressed. Gone are those "diving vs not comfortable" problems. It is supportive, it eats braking bumps, I can't fault it. It is not a hard charger like my latest Lyrik Ultimate but at the price point of...

On previous years, I've heard comments of people saying that cheaper Fox forks (i.e. the one you mention) works better than the top shelf Fox with GRIP2 or similar. The biggest difference in bump absorption feeling on my 21' Factory GRIP2 36 has the high speed rebound (HSR). If I turn it fully open - the fork runs smooth as possible, but dives like hell. Regarding the last "issue" from your comment - for now my fork runs smooth after 4-5 months of riding. Same as my previous RS Pike did...so no problems there!

For 2021, it's better to skip the 36 and DPX2 and rather take something else. Having them on a a new bike, they are ok, but expected them to be the highlight of the bike. To be honest, it is the biggest let down of all the equipment. The 36 when set soft - dives a lot, when set as Fox recommends - is hard on the arms. A lot easier to get the fork work bad for 95% of terrain then to set it good... DPX2 is, as the review said, lively and sporty feeling. But on medium to...

Nic Cotton Liked a comment about product review Italian Suspension for Your Enduro Bike: EXT Storia Lok v3 Revie

The EXT storia V3 has easily made the most notable positive improvement to the bike I currently ride, and I would go as far to say of any upgrade I can remember making. The bike (Rallon R5) has it issues with rear suspension/blowing through its travel. The storia manages to be both plusher than the DHX2 it replaced whilst also giving much more mid and end stroke support. The control it has over varying terrain is brilliant. Its lighter too, if thats your thing. Admittedly it may not make such an obvious improvement on other bikes, and I can't comment...

About time! I have a Reberb B on my YT and while it gets the job done, it doesn't perform well in super cold weather. And I realized how sticky it is when I put a Wolf Tooth remote on my wife's bike with a KS dropper - smooth as butter and easy release compare to the reverb. Nice job!

If you want a review of what we have seen in the shop regarding this drivetrain, I have it. Pretty much everything he described is accurate, but the rear derailleur has one critical flaw: The sealing on the guide pulley pivot/ clutch mechanism is sub par. At least 1/4 of the many xt 12s drivetrains we have sent out/ serviced suffer from premature corrosion in the clutch. It is so bad that sometimes the cage cannot return to its tensioning position when shifting to higher gears. Best case it causes very inconsistent clutch breakaway torque. You can identify it by...

Like how it looks, simple yet nice. And also am stunned by the light weight of the bike. 14kg for a AL bike, with 29 wheels, nice.

Been waiting years to see Transition’s proper take on an XC bike. Not disappointed. wouldn’t want it as my only bike for the trails I ride, but I’d love to have this in the garage!

Except the part where frame measures can be off (a lot of examples in the past; frames have tolerances an they can be off by a half of degree or even more - MBR has a few pointed out), most of the comment is spot on. Just look at the release video from Vital (indeed, with different reviewer) on the Occam and almost everything is opposite. Someone did a bad job, and comparing to other reviews, this article is my pick. Or everything that could go wrong (frame tolerances, shock, fork etc) - went wrong in this case...

From your initial ride review when Orbea released this bike, to this long term review, a lot has changed in your scoring/rating, I must say. Not sure, but the overall rating puts this bike to the pile of worst bikes ever tested on Vital. Climbing and value for money scores are like, way off to other bikes reviewed on your site... Well, at least you measure the true weight and the angles of the bike. Would like this to continue for all the bikes, since one site also measures it and a lot of bikes are off from geometry tables...

Looks like it comes from the frame. XT 29 wheelset is listed on the Shimano website at around 1930g which is reasonable. The steep seat tube angle on the 29 is a real game changer on the climbs compared to the the 27.5 generation.

That's just science, right? More force applied by more weight. It seems like this would be on the low end of the argument against e-bikes because, yes, no one is mad at 220 lbs guy for riding on the trail vs 160 lbs guy.

Where does the weight come from, what do you think (because from the spec, not sure if it's the wheels or the frame) ? I'm currently (as you were) on a 2015 model, which with lower spec is probably 1kg lighter from your 29er version (with water bottle and spare tire and what not). I've learned that the geometry is everything, except when you have 2000-3000ft ascent in front of you. Then you feel everything that is heavy on the bike Would like to hear your opinion on 2015/2016 vs 2020 29er comparison. Position on bike, climbing and descending...
