PositronicJohnny Added a comment about blog post Is Fall the Best Riding Season? Jo Peters Makes a Case

Hm. Not much 'Fall" focus in the video. Still, in WA, we have the luck of being able to ride year round if you don't mind getting wet. I find Fall and Spring riding to be the best as the trails have good traction and the trails are usually only ridden by true believers.

So... what you want is a motorcycle..Seriously. You are describing going further and faster with little to no pedal effort. That sounds less like a bicycle and more like a motorcycle. Why not just take your 4-10k and buy a nice dirt bike and be done with it? In my neck of the woods, there are plenty of single track riding areas for moto. You would get that single track thrill and be less pedal tired (although riding a dirt bike requires you to be physically fit anyway).

e-Bikes are certainly exciting! My heart went into overdrive last week when someone almost took me out on an e-Bike! Something about riding on trails (illegal in my area mind you) too fast for the trail, and in this individual based on the whites of his eyes, beyond his skill level. Yeah, not a fan. But, I did see a fellow on one a few months back with oxygen to his nose. That is the only use case I can get behind. And damn, those prices! you could buy a dialed top end bike for that money and still have...

PositronicJohnny Added a comment about press release The $99 Dropper Seatpost is Here

About time! I have a Reberb B on my YT and while it gets the job done, it doesn't perform well in super cold weather. And I realized how sticky it is when I put a Wolf Tooth remote on my wife's bike with a KS dropper - smooth as butter and easy release compare to the reverb. Nice job!

Appreciate the response. There are some compelling features, mostly the side siping, that are interesting to me. Alas, I run 27.5

Seems that if you can offer a bulk discount that you have room to move on the price for a single tire... I was expecting more like CST pricing when I read the headline.

Surprised at the pricing. You can get the specialized Kenevo for the same price at a shop. E bikes = one of the horsemen of the apocalypse for mountain biking

I still don't see the price to value on carbon. the sweet TR Patrol weighs in at 31.8. My Jeffsy weighs that without pedals. Add a half pound more weight for that and it puts me at 32.3. My complete YT plus pedals and grips cost less than the frame alone of the TR. I could easily put lighter cranks or carbon bars, etc, on it and come in at or under. And the YT climbs fairly well.

Hm. Maybe I'm lucky with my Reverb, but I haven't had a single problem with it in 9 months of riding. No bleeds, no lock outs, no hot weather problems (90 degree summer), no cold weather problems (snow rides). At some point I might put a Wolf Tooth on it because I hate the plunger, but it isn't because it doesn't work. I'll give you less effort on the shifter. The rest of it? meh. Internal routing. Accuracy? That remains to be seen.

$5,200 for a GX build. No wonder DTC is eating their lunch. Bike looks awesome, though.

Not to sound too much like a jerk, but you quit after one ride? Here is the bottom line: Mountain biking is HARD. It challenges your physical and mental capabilities. It will also NEVER get easier. You constantly push your limit and continue to grow in strength, endurance, and mental fortitude. Every ride will take you further, hence the never...
