One bike can’t rule them all, but the SB130 is one bike that rules. Conceived on rowdy Colorado trails and fed a steady diet of technical climbing and high-speed descents, this bike crushes big terrain." - Yeti Cycles
All About The SB130
We sat down with Yeti's Director of Engineering, Peter "Stretch" Zawistowski, for an in-depth chat about the new SB150, which shares a lot of similarities to the SB130. Listen in for some great insight:
0:43 - Geometry and fork offset
2:08 - Progression and leverage curve
3:55 - Shock damping tunes
5:03 - Progression rate and shock selection
5:49 - All about the shock extender
8:07 - Making room for a water bottle
8:41 - Anti-squat and pedaling performance
11:20 - Internal tube-in-tube cable routing
11:59 - Hardware for easy installation and maintenance
12:38 - How do the new bikes ride compared to other Yetis?
14:25 - Who are the new bikes for?
Geometry
Compared to the SB5.5 that it replaces, the SB130 sees a number of big geometry updates including a shorter 44mm offset fork, one degree slacker 65.5-degree head tube angle, 40mm longer reach measurements across the size range, and a drastic 3.4-degree steeper seat angle.
Suspension Kinematics
Yeti's intention is "to use the travel and use it well." For years their bikes have averaged 3-8% progression. "Yeti’s leverage rate with linear progression remains, but with a slight [12.5%] increase to the progressivity percentage, providing greater compatibility with modern shocks. This gives the SB130 an efficient pedaling platform, better small bump sensitivity, mid-stroke support, and increased bottom-out resistance." The increase in progression has also allowed Yeti to rely less on volume spacers and low-speed compression damping.

Build Kits, Pricing & Availability
The initial SB130 release includes five complete bikes ranging from $5,199 to $10,099 USD including optional upgrades. The three highest-end bikes have the TURQ edition frame, which uses higher-quality carbon material and saves close to 225-grams (0.5-pounds) over the C-Series. Yeti says that both types of carbon achieve the same stiffness ratings.
View C-Series Builds | View TURQ Builds
- C-Series GX Eagle - $5,199 USD
- C-Series GX Comp Eagle - $6,199
- TURQ X01 Eagle - $7,199
- TURQ X01 Eagle Race - $8,199
- TURQ XX1 Eagle - $9,199
- TURQ Frame + Shock - $3,500
SB130 TURQ bikes and frames are available now. C-Series models will be available in one to two months.
What's The Bottom Line?
Like the SB150, the new SB130 is able to tame the trail with its smooth, lively suspension feel and excellent front end manners. We enjoy the new direction Yeti has headed as it makes their bikes more fun, sensitive, and bottomless with less compression damping to get things done. This bike is well suited as an everyday ripper and would suit many in search of that one-bike quiver.
