I wasn’t able to get a photo (bad phone, not because I was told no photo) but the Pivot boys were getting around Queenstown Bike Park this afternoon on a new CNC lugged downhill bike with carbon tubing. Not sure if this counts as team rumours or tech news so will post in both.

Wish I could help ya out... From what I've heard there has been a problem with getting venues that desire to host the event. My speculation is that's one of the reasons it was split in the first place for 2023 is that a venue could not be secured that had a UCI caliber DH track and the ability to host UCI caliber XC races along with Enduro championships at the same location. @hogfly judging by your location you should be pretty close to where XC nationals ends up after the recent Walton Family Foundation/USAC national team press release. moi moi wasn't ousted by gwin AFAIK, but didn't gell with the new setup (tires, suspension, brakes), had an off-year and wanted some change. unfortunately cannondale canceled their racing efforts after he was promised a ride so he took what he could get and that was canyon at that time. pretty sure canyon would have loved to keep him and surely raised the pay but my guess is YT really opened their wallet and don't know who signed who first, but jesse should also be paid well and both could've been too expensive.

A winning setup doesn't last forever...I made the choice that I thought would bring me success for many years to come. Canyon has a bigger commitment to racing and winning and I've always felt I wanted a little extra help to go even faster. I recorded a podcast with Downtime last week so that should be out soon and explain some more.

If I had to guess, I bet Rocky is somewhat psyched for Melamed and encouraged him to go make some good money for a few years that they currently aren’t in a position to match. They probably also told him that when he decides to take a step back from racing to come back and they would try to find some role for him again at Rocky. All good things come to an end and I suspect no bridges were burned here. I bet he is going to love the Rock Shox suspension.

There’s been lots of photos of that bike for months. The real news is that those tires aren’t Michelins and that there’s been a bunch of photos of wyn running the same non-Michelin tires.

This Pirelli / Trek racing thing seems to not make a whole lot of sense since Trek has Bontrager tires... Hoever, my theory as to how this has come about: -Think this move is more about money than quality of tires (what isn't). Pirelli may be throwing big money at the team (hundreds of thousands of dollars) to be their tire supplier. This will allow them to afford all the big rider contracts they're carrying right now as the bike recession looms. -Trek has (for a while now) been a distributor (at least in US) for Pirelli tires.
