To Eric Saunders... Isn't the promoter of this the promoter of many other enduro races? The Big Mountain Enduro Series? Isn't this promoter the one that has a cap on entrants? It isn't like they are expecting 200 and got 899 racers. They are capped field limits. They should have control over this. I agree there are growing pains, but...

Looks like almost everyone is going to ride Doctor Park (not Doctor's), which is an incredible ride in and of itself. I guess we'll just see how good of a guess that is of a EWS stage trail. I'd certainly bet on it after riding it a few times and being so stoked on it. Fun ride, and the race...

I think it has to be a rider 'agreement' so to speak, an honor system that is followed. As it stands now, this is certainly not the case, because people are there riding, more than a week ahead of time, and not trying to hide it. Enduro teams are paying for hotels and costs for riders for this, like Yeti...

Highly illogical... Di2 Nexus isn't compatible with Boost, plus I need a 20mm front axle for scrubbing and getting pitted. Never go full Boost.

I've sometimes had a derailleur rattle a bit, which depends on the derailleur hanger a little, angle, some little things like that. I have put a thin pedal washer between the hanger and that piece you are talking about, and it prevents any movement and keeps it more solid. That might solve your issues.

The trails are infamously sculpted so you don't need much suspension. Far from DH. Easy run-ins to jumps, mellow run-outs, not much diversity. I moved away from that place. I'd recommend going to Keystone or Vail for a day and Winter Park for a day. Not two or more at Winter Park, but that depends on what you like.

As long as we have front derailleurs, we compromise the strength and stiffness of the main pivot and chainstay yoke. The drive-side main pivot bearing has to be moved way inward to accommodate the front derailleur. Ironically, that is also the bearing that receives the highest loads. If FDs are abandon in favor of one-by systems, frame manufacturers can move that drive-side bearing back outward where it needs to be and we will see a benefit in stiffness, strength, and longevity of bike frames as a result. I agree with lev, you aren't correct with what you are talking about as far as weight. Here's what the facts are, which are different than what you say about 'lard ass' cassettes: We'll just assume everyone has the same crank, front 34 tooth chainring, hub, rear shifter, which all weight about the same. 2x9: XT cassette, because you can't hardly find the 9 speed XTR (256g) plus XTR shifter(102g) plus XTR front derailleur (122g) plus small chainring (30g), we'll leave off the cable and housing weight, the added chainring bolts: 510g 1Up with XTR Cassette: 396 Grams XX1 cassette...

Have you picked up an XX1 or XTR cassette? They are freaky light. You will lose, what, 25g by going to a more compact cassette? Sounds like a win. I think I have lost 1 chain in a year... But I opted for not just the narrow-wide but the tall tooth ring (BlackSpire), no chainguide for me, so YMMV. I love my 1x (with cheater ring for the big mountain days). And if you can't spin a 30t up to 30-40mph on a downhill, you don't know how to pedal at a high cadence. It just takes a quick burst...
