TEAMROBOT Liked a comment about Press Release Cascade Components Announces Kona Process 153 Link
9/21/2020 10:44pm Would be cool if Kona could figure out leverage rates and chainstay lengths on their own. Maybe bottoming out all the time is “MORE FREERIDE!!!”

9/15/2020 9:25pm Great article Paul! Im totally with you on this one, I think this 'underbiking' crap that has grown so much in popularity is mostly just bravado and general dumb assery. Same goes for gravel biking, 'look how much fun Im having! I have to walk my bike past every technical feature and I crash constantly!'

9/15/2020 9:24pm Holy mother of bike checks!!! The details and pickiness are amazing. Thank you! Do you think there is a place for shorter, nimble bikes? (And I mean in the forest not a pump track) Just like in a car world, there are people, although few and far between, that care about the experience more than a performance. They drive old (or old in principles) cars that require more brain capacity to control them, but in return provide much more sensation at a far, far lower speed, than a modern alternative developed at a race track. Do you see any analogy...

tobriks Added a comment about feature MTB Tire Insert Comparison Test - CushCore Pro vs Nukeproof ARD vs MegaNorris
8/21/2020 10:35am Not my intention but now you'd said it, it sure did sound like a salespitch for Cushcore! Hope Cushcore sees this and send me a decent discount code
But if Cushcore do really solve the issues of other inserts as you described, I might need to reconsider. Because tire inserts thus far haven't really impressed this ape.

8/21/2020 9:59am Funny that you never tried Cushcore, because I think you just wrote a salespitch for them. Rim protection, sidewall support, and not shrinking or losing function over time are the main selling points of Cushcore over other tire inserts. I used to run DH tires without inserts on my trail bike, but was still folding tires and denting rims. I tried Huck Norris and it worked for a while but I experienced all the same drawbacks you described. Now I’m running DH tires and Cushcore in the rear and I’m happy as a clam. It weighs a little more, but...

tobriks Added a comment about feature MTB Tire Insert Comparison Test - CushCore Pro vs Nukeproof ARD vs MegaNorris
8/21/2020 12:33am Not tried Cushcore but I've tried some other of these foam hoops in the past (Rimpact, Huck Norris, Pepi's and Nukeproof) and don't feel they are worth the hassle. On my hardtail the added damping was definitely noticeable. However, rim protection is still subpar which also seem to worsen overtime as the foam shrinks (a result of the foam being under constant pressure, I suppose). Eventually they start to rattle inside the tire which not only sounds very annoying, but the shrinkage of the foam also reduces the much wanted sidewall support which ultimately, increases the risk of rim strikes...

2/8/2020 11:05pm "The industry also needs to stop presenting that we are somehow better than motorized users because we have to pedal to access that power. It is immaterial that a motorcycle does not have to be pedaled." Nope. Pedal assist (along with speed caps) is the clear differentiator from a traditional motorcycle. There is a big difference between how you ride something with pedal assist and how you ride something with a throttle. With an eBike you get assistance on the way up (the power isn't free and is still limited by user output). On the way down you ride it...

tobriks Added a comment about feature Vital MTB Face Off: The Best Flat Pedals
1/7/2020 2:58am Surprised to see the Wah Wah 2 pedals got such a high score. I bought them due to their raving reviews they have got from several sites, but oh what a disappointment they were. Yes they have grip, IF you use shoes with a very soft sole that will better form to the shape of the pedal. Shoes with a stiffer sole like the Five Ten Impacts will have a hard time to find grip due to the lack of center pins. The pins are also very fragile and break very easily due to only being M3 size, I broke...

1/7/2020 2:20am As a 43 year old Native wet weather PNW rider I have to say the 2 most surprising was Tmac getting 2nd, and the Crankbros. Stamp scoring so low. Having tried at least a 3rd of these pedals over the years I can say the perimeters for testing are off. Bearings become my personal #1 concern because pins can be replaced with longer or shorter depending on what you like to get a good grip out of most pedals. I've blown up many a Tmac because they don't ricochet off rocks well on pedal strikes because of size and square...

iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: Unparallel Dust Up Flat Pedal Shoe
6/6/2019 4:17am
If you’ve been following the MTB shoe market, you might have noticed a new name pop up recently. Unparallel Sports is a company that was founded in 2017 by Sang Lee, a close friend of Five Ten’s founder and the person behind the production of Five Ten shoes up until the adidas acquisition. With that heritage in mind, we were of course excited to see what this new/old player could come up with, and we’ve been putting one of Unparallel’s very first creations to the test to find out. Strengths Weaknesses Extremely grippy Very comfortable Effecting “damping” on the pedals...
