My issue isn't so much with "flow" trails, but the "dumbing down" of existing "non-flow" trails that have been ridden for years. Taking out rocks, roots and other technical features to sanitize the trail drives me nuts. Groomed flow trails definitely have a place, as pinkrobe said, they don't have to be a beginner level trail to be a flow trail. Even beginner level trails are great, for their intended purpose. I build under the idea that all trails should have flow, but not all trails should be flow trails. My wife started riding 3 years ago; she's at the...

awesome comments and response from all of you! thanks so much. i even had a couple audio responses sent as well as some email responses since this went up. re: derby photo - that trail looks so freaking fun and it's a rad shot from sven that illustrated a machine-built trail. no way am i implying that trail isn't fun/good/etc. pinkrobe and losifer bring up some great points about what a flow trail actually is (not all flow trails are "easy", but generally speaking, they are often aimed at entry- or intermediate-level riders). keep it up!!

Sweet bike! I commute all the time on my singlespeed dirt jump bike with Maxxis DTH tires, and I've gotten a lot of flats. It's a really thin tire with no flat protection. I'd consider running a more robust, thicker, heavier tire, like a K-Rad or even a Hookworm. If you do go with the DTH maybe something like a...

That's super cool that you tried the lower sag number. Sorry it didn't work, but I love that you tried another possible setup. Good luck on your next option!

Really enjoyed this, could listen to both of these guys for hours and I do hope you get Kathy Sessler on here soon. Small critique, there were a few times when Rob was thinking/organizing his thoughts when Bobby interrupted him and we never got to see where those thoughts were going. So, just would be nice to let the interviewee get all his/her thoughts out before the interviewer takes us in another direction. But good stuff all around!

That's a smart trick for adjusting end-stroke on a non-adjustable fork like this. You could get the opposite effect by adding extra bath oil and reducing air volume.

And then buying the SB165 because it's new and they have to have it. Of all the old school brands that traded highly on brand loyalty to justify their pricing and cachet, Yeti is about the only one who's managing to still use it as a sucessful business model. People don't worship at the altar of Cannondale or Foes anymore.

Not to mention everyone buying the SB5.5 then a year later selling to get SB150 then realising they only actually need to buy SB130. All those dentists ended up with a shed full of new bikes

All of that combined is probably 1/10th of what they spend on their road programs.

You should try running 35% sag before you do anything else. On most bikes running that much sag would leave you bobbing and bouncing all over the place, but the stock RS shocks on the Megatower have a lot of low speed compression tuned into them and that low speed will keep the chassis pretty stable under your weight shifts. The benefit of running more sag is that you'll have a lower spring rate from the sag point all the way until you bottom out, which will allow your bike to flow more freely through its travel as you're riding...
