Stumpy Evo is not an enduro bike though. Very capable trail bike(all mountain even). That said DH bike are amazing.

I cannot tell you enough how much it means to me that you(Vital) do this tests. As someone who has "always" ridden a dh bike and recently bought into the hype and got an enduro bike, all I can say is "who wants a stumpy evo comp carbon in S4??" Im gonna sell it and get a Session. There is no replacing a DH bike.

Haha you're not wrong, and I'm stoked people still care what music is in riding videos. Royalty-free music for YouTube is the worst, but I'll make a point to start including some better tunes. Stoked you dig this year's testing concept!

Awesome concept and format for a bike showdown. One of the most worthy videos I’ve seen in the genre of “test review.” Really well done. But this is a comment in the comment section, so… LAME ASS MUSIC! We’re testing DH bikes here! Leave that elevator fusion stuff at the hotel lobby and play us something with drums, bass, and screaming guitar as we roll through the rock garden!

Dh bikes are so fun. I actually bought one this year after not owning one for a number of years and just riding my enduro rig everywhere. On proper terrain a good dh bike is unmatched.

Check the rampage injury list since 2015. It’s gone down tremendously, and the scale/exposure has gotten way gnarlier. Graham had the one massive crash where he missed the landing. 2016 was when the new format came into place at behest of the riders, after the 2015 shit show where the riders were being treated like expendable product for entertainment. That’s not a vibe I’ve ever gotten from hardline where it’s a rider founded and operated event. I’ve never been to hardline, but I attended rampage 8 years straight as a digger for 5yr and media 2yr. Poached my first year...

@shredder_schroeder I've also been a bit dubious about this whole thing over the last few days. For me, it's hard to let go of DH racing once the season ends, and I get sucked into this event with way too much expectation. I've seen every edition of hardline (replays, then broadcast since 2018), but this year something in the back of the brain just doesn't agree with all the hype. So I looked up the race reports and put the data into a spreadsheet... nerdy yes, but no risk of a broken collarbone. My conclusion is that it's not progressing...

8 out of 10 riders at Proving Grounds would not even make it down the Hardline course.

Bah... go and watch the first edition, 2014, the only time Danny Hart participated (and won). That track was gnarly. What we're watching now is so far removed from "the gnar" and Dan Atherton's shovel. This track is all about truckloads of catalogue-grade gravel and whiteboard engineering. Who's pushing these athletes... mammon and bigger pay check than they'll ever see on the WC circuit.

Jess Blewitt out with a broken collarbone. Gutted for her as she was doing awesome out there on the course.

In the pb comments it says that Andy Kolb withdrew. He's also not in the qualifying list. In the last sm videos he said he wasn't sure if he was ready for that. Very impressive is Jackson Goldstones 3rd place qualifying run. What can't this kid do?

I think maybe the location of hardline could be its limiting factor. It’s not like the fest in SA where conditions are more readable . If you get normal Welsh weather that weekend then things get too sketch.

Dan Atherton is definitely pushing these athletes, these dudes are gnarly, as a spectator though it seems more like a progression session for the athletes with a race thrown on the end. These riders are the best in the world and they’ll no when something is too far.

Regarding Danny am I the only one who thinks his value as a “personality” has gone through the roof since joining cube? He seems way more comfortable and clearly doesn’t give a shit what anyone has to say about him anymore. Personally I think he’s been hilarious on Brayton’s YT channel and Wyntv.

Kerr vs Kerr during the broadcast had me laughing out loud, especially during the virtual straight portion during which neither Rob or Claudio could tell which was supposed to be which. What a legend...thanks for everything, Rob!!

While the BruniBall 9000 may not be real, I've been wondering for a while when GPS technology would be brought to bear in downhill. Suspension characteristics (and other settings?) could be adjusted on the fly based on location on course. Specialized wouldn't have the diaper on Finn's bike and the carbon French cigarette box on Loic's bike just to hide a traditional manual remote lockout. Automatic chain disengagement for full rear suspension activation, anyone? One way a low-pivot design could be improved in a world where high pivots and idlers are mopping up the results. The UCI is inspecting bikes...
