So for the rest of the year, NO ONE in Elite will wear the US National Champion's sleeve? Asa is going to be racing Juniors for 2 more years. Luca has to take the sleeve off & we just don't have a flag in World Cups until Asa ages in or someone gets it next year?

Looking at Amaury's GoPro of his winning run (embedded below), the first thing that stands out is the pure mix of aggression and flow. The amount of speed he manages to generate in some of those sloppy, greasy turns is quite simply incredible. The second thing is the precision. Insane! Look at this frame grab, he was hauling the mail in this section and fully committed to this tiny little gap between two painted rocks. Crazy! GoPro run:

Reading the riders' statement, I think its important to parse it into two parts. 1) Safety: The riders should have a major say in course safety, features and conditions. This is a totally reasonable thing to aim at being there is a direct connection between the organizers, the riders and course building. If they simply took a stand over this alone, I think they'd have a lot of success getting their way. 2) Pay: The idea that the riders "deserve" something because they are putting their lives on the line unfortunately doesn't hold much water elsewhere in life. This will hopefully live long as one of the best pieces of journalism our sport has ever produced, right up there with Mike Ferrentino and Steve Jones’ best. Sounds like I need to make some changes around here! First up we’re going to cosplay as car mechanics for a 73 person track walk. And we’re putting our names down our pant legs. I’m slicing like a fuckin hammer and the guys get shirts!!! DH racing is fantastic. These racers deserve to be household names. That’s all I know for sure. Greg Minnaar!
