So Dorel's got Denk working on GT now, too. What a coup it was to swipe him from Scott.

Denk adds huge legitimacy to the I Drive redesign...if he did not think it would work he would not have used it...bravo to GT for a truly new bike that is not a massaged version of old technology....note that FSR came from AMP in Laguna Beach almost 25 years ago...

I think it's a good start, but needs some work. As previously mentioned, the strap over the lower forefoot is going to be really uncomfortable when it is pulled tight. Does anyone remeber the Adidas Hematomas? THOSE things were the gold-standard in clipless DH shoes. They had 3 well-placed velcro straps over the instep, ankle bone pads there were like an internal cuff, AND an armored toe box. A very hard, tough plastic/composite capped the toe area like the steel toes of a pair of Doc Martens. I think this last bit was a great idea becuase occasionally toes would...

with most of the heavy hitters out of the way, Gee is 6th in qualifying right now. TOUGH AS NAILS!

so funny the speculation that its equipment related. If you are not pushing it like these guys in practice (& Race and Quali) you are not going to be on the podium. Lots of the top riders had big crashes today. Combination of track speed and conditions and just manning up. These guys are in the gym 75 % of the time just to prevent injuries such as this. 99 % of us normal riders wouldn't be able to even walk for week or we would be broken after a crash like this.

Glad my grassy-mud encrusted wheel leads off this epic feature! Mount Snow tracks from late-90's thru mid-00's were the epic gnar. While the tracks featuring ledges, waterfall, ego alley, & yardsale are best remembered, the '98 course in the woods (on stage right) might go down as the best track there was up there, the perfect balance of woods and wide open. It would probably hold the test of time if raced today. Mount Snow was brutal in the wet and shear mental when dry. I have never been as scared for my own safety as when on some of...

Save for the newish front tire, new rear wheel, & what looks like an ODI lockon grip, that bike is straight out of 1998/99. Right down to the RST fork, Kooka cranks, 22mm mount Hayes rear, 1st gen Mr Dirt slider, & Vanilla RX shock. I venture to bet that the bars/stem are Azonic, and if not they're probably World Force.

Funny that you mention that Piper! During a small round table w/ some 4X racers, DHers, and team/industry folks at a World Cup (MSA IIRC), myself and Sam Hill proposed a similar idea of having a global 4X WC series in the "off season", held it locales that might be too flat for a DHI event but could host a 4X event. Perhaps places that are too hot in summer but might have great winter climates (such as Florida, SoCal, TX, AZ) and have good MTB scenes. Perhaps also in urban centers or small stadiums, or even in cities like...

While my heart says DS, my head says slopestyle! If the UCI & FMB can work together to build event at same venue, on same weekend of a DH/XC World Cup then I think it's a big win for all of the fans, the media, & the athletes. That is something that can help progress the sport. (Just don't let the UCI rule the slopestyle...yikes!)
