I don't understand the idea that safety is an all-or-nothing deal. Small things add up. Making thoughtful efforts in the areas surrounding the track where a rider will likely end up in a crash seems like a reasonable ting to do, and won't affect the racing at all. Since crashing is inevitable when people are pushing the limits, doesn't it make sense to lessen consequences of a mistake when there is an easy solution? I also want to make a point about the onsite doctor. Having a full-time doctor with the World Cup that goes to all races and understands...

One of the benefits of the new DW patent that I haven't heard mentioned yet is the super small front chain ring. Because the gearing steps down twice (from the first drivetrain to the second), the bike can get away with a really small chainring and a ton of ground clearance while still having the same final drive ratio. I was on a ride on Friday where I dragged my bashguard 4-5 different times. Would not mind more ground clearance.

Due to the nature of photographing Enduro, you can really only chase the top men. If you hang around to wait for the women, then you would probably only get two goes at each and miss the finish. I would have loved to get more women's stuff. The very little I did get gets taken up with other photo commitments. It ate at me so much that I couldn't cover it, but the images just weren't there.

If you compare MSRPs for the high-end cranks from Shimano, SRAM, Race Face, and e*thirteen, this Hope Crank is pretty much in line. Within that group, you have high end carbon cranks with a $600 MRSP, and more affordable alu cranks at comparable weights and spec starting at around $320.
