Let me introduce you to my friend shimano... lol Dominions have kind of the worst of both worlds, lots of lever travel and a short ramp that goes from initial bite to rear tire lockup very quickly. Ride T4V4's and Dominions back-to-back in steep loose over loose conditions and you will appreciate the power and control that the hopes gift you with less lever travel. Don't get me wrong I like my dominions; my 2 primary bikes run both the T4V4's and A4's, but the A4's are not easy to keep from locking up in situations where the hopes have...

iv got one of these for Christmas and its actually really good. Think I paid £100 ish for the full kit on a black friday sale. The mountain industry has a gaping hole in it. Selling ppl £1000 forks £6000+ bikes and not even a fuck you on how to help setting them up accurately at home.. It is very...

Fun conversationSmile Charlie, I’m reading this back to myself and I want to sound curious and not condescending; ala Paul at Mars Hill. But I don’t know if my wording reflects that, please read my words generously in light of the curiosity I’m experiencing. ………. I too think there are levers involved! All the usual suspension design metrics will have to be looked at when the wheel and brake are moved rearward 30-50mm. Though my position is that braking needs are nearly exclusively related to the need to convert accrued KE into heat in the time appropriate for the application...

I know this isn't the point of your comment, but if you haven't tried it, you might find it easier to keep a 29" front wheel straight than a 27.5" wheel, due to the gyroscopic stability and better roll over. For example, the reason I left my hardtail 27.5 is because it doesn't like to stay straight so it gives a different experience of picking lines compared to my "plow" 29er bike.

Yea it’s wrong . Also , on this point, on a modern 170 travel enduro bike with high stack , 29inch front wheel then add my height. My head is miles away from the trail. Then add a rutted in uk off camber turn . I find big bikes very hard to balance. 32 inch wheel my head would be...

Had a shower thought today: Us “normal” sized folks (size M and L) have fetishized the 27.5 front wheel for being more nimble and playful, so why are so many tall riders so stoked about 32? Wouldn’t a giant human on a 29er be in the total sweet spot of it feeling nimble like a full 27.5 bike feels to us but also with the better rollover of a 29? Am I just in the Vital/PB bubble of liking the handling of full 27.5?

At 6 foot 4 I have no idea why ppl keep saying big wheels are good for taller riders. The terrain you are riding on doesn't get bigger ?? Il fight you all day on stack height not being proportional , but it’s getting better and it’s fixable with the new crop of 80mm plus bars. Big wheels dont help...

Fox, Bell, Giro and probably some others are all under the same parent company now. So makes sense. And like you say they were already in Bell helmets. So an easy relationship to keep going

I like Dak but I think some vital users have a slightly biased view on him. Sick guy, love listening to him, still very fast. But I think it’s very healthy and appropriate for sports teams to sign new younger talent.

I am not one to dis someone but that guy is sooooo annoying announcing DH. He seems perfect for the pits and maybe in corral post race but commentating he is super in accurate with what he is saying - ____ ALMOST OUT THE FRONT DOOR every 3rd rider. The nonsense that dribbles out of him is just an embarrassment. It's gotta be crazy hard but they need to replace him. Rewatching all the races from 2025 and if my wife is the room I have to put headphones so she doesnt have listen to him!

New propain tyee just launched about an hour ago. Interesting to see both Ochain and Trickstuff brakes come as oem. Its this the first bike to come with Trickstuff from factory? I know there was a scott scale in limited numbers if that counts, otherwise I cant think of one. https://www.propain-bikes.com/en/product/bikes/enduro/tyee-cf/

POC chest and back protector is my favorite, mainly since it goes all the way down your back and doesn't stop halfway up your spine like some other brands. It's also quite comfy.

Just a note from a uk dude here about our trails. There’s a number of factors. Scotland has different land laws than England and wales generally speaking our tracks are on smaller hills so we can’t afford to just shoot straight down hence all the turns. These videos you see will be fresh loam tracks, the average rider won’t get close to riding them unless they built them, before they get rain and rider damaged. Most tracks typically associated with the uk scene are illegal either private or government land (we don’t have guns) so no real consequences to trespass...

I don't think it's stupid, I have to run my levers really far inboard with a large gap between the clamp and grip, I'd love a shortened lever, but they can't really be beat anyway on power and light lever feel, except for maybe Hayes.
