Ah, i thought you had a different rear end on a demo. How does a 412 CS feel like?

Primoz Added a comment about feature SRAM Introduces BOOST 148x12 and 110x15 Standard & 2016 Forks

Exactly so. Think single speed hubs. How wide is the axle spacing and how wide are the flanges appart? The weight is not much of a problem, as Pinion showed. Higher cost, yeah, is a problem, but only if you're looking at bikes on the cheap. It is a closed unit too, so you save some money in the long run (single speed sprockets and chains can be made cheaper). A pinion only requires an oil change a year. The biggest problems are manufacturer's inertia, they don't want to go to a new, uncompatible and weird standard (weird being how...

Think of it this way, 148 is basicly 140 mm (okay, 141) in 'old units', when we didn't have the through axle shoulders. Think about how this compares to 135 and 150 of the old standards. The analogy is the same considering 142, 148 and 157, as mentioned. But there's a bigger problem. I love the idea of an 11 speed cassette, but feel it could have a wider range still. And the 11th cog gets really near the spokes. How do you get the spoke clearance and get another cog for example? All of that without losing any flange...

Oh my god, this is just perfect. Natural trails, gnar (rocks and roots) and the ability to ride XC helmets! Enduro like it should be done in my opinion.

Primoz Added a reply to 2015 Racing Rumours - MTB Musical Chairs

It'd be quite a complicated mold if this is carbon TBH... Smally, finnicky features with small, finicky coutouts. It does look really smooth (carbon-like), but i think i might be seeing a weld by the upper rocker thingie mount between the 'seat tube' or better yet the vertical plates and the top tube at 0:32. There's a suspicious ridge/bulge/something. The...

Ah, i was looking at the bottom picture thinking it's the new frame, yeah, it's definitely changed around, there is no longer a faux bar arrangement, there's a much bigger swingarm incroporated this time. I doubt they went with a fourbar linkage, it's not their style.

Basing off the warranty and MSRP prices of a Santa Cruz frame is not a good way to judge costs, since i'm pretty sure SCs are also made in the far east. And you don't know the R&D, marketing and profit margins. No idea what the costs would, literally no idea, i am after all still finishing up college (masters...

Yeah, the likes of Trek or Specialized or some of the Germans (Open cycles) can or could take that hit due to the brand image (the first two are big, huge brands, Open Cycles is German, which in the minds of many is a sign of engineering quality). I can hardly see that with Commencal, while i have nothing against...

I'd say it's the fender not conforming to the arch and being longer, therefore not showing the gap with light. Commencal are sticking with aluminium, they've said it's cheaper and that carbon is not worth the bother for a company their size and that aluminium is good enough. They used to have carbon Meta 5.5s and swingarms on the 5.5...

I think it's a matter of time for Scott to go carbon,s ince they've been doing carbon since like forever. The thing is that supposedly different groups make the Gambler and Voltage lines as opposed to all the Genius and XC racing bikes, the latter of which are the carbon bikes. As for Devinci, i wouldn't be surprised at them...

If i'm not mistaken it's just a spacer which the Vivid needs for some reason, as the Ti spring at the same stroke is shorter than a steel spring. It could also employ the thrust bearing to prevent biding. Though i'm not completely sold on the idea of the binding, can't really see how it could play a big role...
