Primoz Added a comment about feature SRAM Introduces BOOST 148x12 and 110x15 Standard & 2016 Forks
3/21/2015 11:08am So here's the million dollar question, what changed on the crankarm that makes it 'new'? Or is it 'new' and it's actually just the chainring or the spider that is actually new?

3/21/2015 6:16am Hm, if the Q factor is unchanged, are the crankarms themselves changed at all? Wouldn't it be just the sprocket that would be different? Or does this also mean about 3 mm wider BB shells?

3/20/2015 4:40pm M, i know what you mean with the pushing forward. A friend of mine who's finishing up his kinesiology PhD actually said that a steeper seat tube angle is more efficient, so there's that. The chainstay is basically the same as i chose, a smidgen over 420 mm, same goes for the top tube, 650 mm. I've been throwing head...

3/20/2015 12:23pm Yea, i know the steeper seat angle helps, i've done some quick calculations and it shouldn't be a problem, it's quite similar to more old school, rear-oriented bikes, a percentage point or two of difference. But numbers tell you something, while real world feelings may tell you something else. So it's better to ask if you have the chance. And...

3/20/2015 10:05am We don't have dimes, but i do understand the phrase, i'm lucky to be good with english. How does the long front centre deal with putting your weight over the front axle, is it a problem? Can you use flats or do you have to hang over the front so much that you need to be clipped in to prevent...

3/19/2015 12:36pm Ah, i thought you had a different rear end on a demo. How does a 412 CS feel like?

3/18/2015 2:44pm Exactly so. Think single speed hubs. How wide is the axle spacing and how wide are the flanges appart? The weight is not much of a problem, as Pinion showed. Higher cost, yeah, is a problem, but only if you're looking at bikes on the cheap. It is a closed unit too, so you save some money in the long run (single speed sprockets and chains can be made cheaper). A pinion only requires an oil change a year. The biggest problems are manufacturer's inertia, they don't want to go to a new, uncompatible and weird standard (weird being how...

3/18/2015 1:24pm Think of it this way, 148 is basicly 140 mm (okay, 141) in 'old units', when we didn't have the through axle shoulders. Think about how this compares to 135 and 150 of the old standards. The analogy is the same considering 142, 148 and 157, as mentioned. But there's a bigger problem. I love the idea of an 11 speed cassette, but feel it could have a wider range still. And the 11th cog gets really near the spokes. How do you get the spoke clearance and get another cog for example? All of that without losing any flange...

Oh my god, this is just perfect. Natural trails, gnar (rocks and roots) and the ability to ride XC helmets!
Enduro like it should be done in my opinion.

3/15/2015 9:30am It's easy to get excited, not look properly and get ahead of yourself. I've certainly been there, done that, will do it again, many times over.

3/15/2015 7:38am It'd be quite a complicated mold if this is carbon TBH... Smally, finnicky features with small, finicky coutouts. It does look really smooth (carbon-like), but i think i might be seeing a weld by the upper rocker thingie mount between the 'seat tube' or better yet the vertical plates and the top tube at 0:32. There's a suspicious ridge/bulge/something. The...

3/15/2015 4:18am I think the rear end might be a bit shorter. Otherwise the shape isn't that different to the current linkage (as far as triangulation of the pivots goes). http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb11289313/p5pb11289313.jpg On the other hand, looking at the picture of the aluminium link, it might just be a machined out aluminium link for lightness (with the majority of the green parts of...

3/12/2015 11:50am Ah, i was looking at the bottom picture thinking it's the new frame, yeah, it's definitely changed around, there is no longer a faux bar arrangement, there's a much bigger swingarm incroporated this time. I doubt they went with a fourbar linkage, it's not their style.

3/11/2015 3:25pm Basing off the warranty and MSRP prices of a Santa Cruz frame is not a good way to judge costs, since i'm pretty sure SCs are also made in the far east. And you don't know the R&D, marketing and profit margins. No idea what the costs would, literally no idea, i am after all still finishing up college (masters...

3/11/2015 1:05pm Yeah, the likes of Trek or Specialized or some of the Germans (Open cycles) can or could take that hit due to the brand image (the first two are big, huge brands, Open Cycles is German, which in the minds of many is a sign of engineering quality). I can hardly see that with Commencal, while i have nothing against...
