9/3/2024 9:32am Ok here’s another crazy one, what if your Tuned Mass Damper also had a regeneration component, I think in theory this would also allow you to change the natural frequency on the fly, no?

9/3/2024 6:19am I am kind of surprised that there haven’t been any devices that use regeneration to charge axs batteries. Can anyone calculate how many watts it would take to charge a battery that small? I feel like you could just run a copper coil in the jockey wheel or cassette and get all of that back on a descent or at...

8/25/2024 7:42pm I think mechanical t-type is inevitable. There is a schematic for frames on the UDH website that includes a cable stop. Posted a pic of it months ago. I can try to find it again when I get back to my computer.

8/3/2024 10:12pm You could get 100mm too if you wanted to. Typically a lower leverage rate, (more stroke less travel) is seen as desirable. If you adjust the damping properly a wide range of leverage ratios are viable.

7/30/2024 10:10am So the rumor is that the range won’t have updated colors this year…?

7/23/2024 1:36pm I heard the Fox one was supposed to be later this summer. Reverb was spotted prototype testing just this spring, so that will be at least 1-2 years.

7/23/2024 1:35pm It is 100% not "healthy" plus the X0, XX, XTR builds make up such a small percentage of any given brands sales that its more or less irrelevant. The whole market is hosed right now, these bikes were committed to 12+ months ago with their factories and they're not gonna sell very many of them regardless of cable routing options.

7/18/2024 2:10pm Basically all brands do this, pivot just makes a big deal about it. If a small and XL used the exact same layup, one would ride like crap.

7/9/2024 10:01am If safety is your top priority, then I’d take a look at 6D. It sounds like they have something new coming out on the moto side in the next couple of weeks, so maybe some new MTB stuff will follow? It is curious that all the Astars guys are using the moto helmet. Giving Astars the benefit of the doubt, maybe it’s a decision based on World Cup average track speeds being really high these days.

7/8/2024 8:54pm Based on my experience with it the lower headset cup is too small to give you more than 1 or 2 mm in reach adjustment. Even with a normal 56mm headset you need use an external cup on the bottom for the lower bearing to sit outside the head tube with a tapered fork.

7/6/2024 6:51am You can get a left crank and power meter spindle in a variety of models from sram. Off the top of my head they are only available in the new T-type cranks. Or a quarq power meter chainring would work on most sram cranks.

6/25/2024 3:06pm Knollys recent sizing is just not it. Putting someone 5’6” on a bike with a 480 reach is just insane. They are either hoping to turn people off the sport or are just incredibly insecure and trying to prove something.

6/24/2024 3:45pm I love the internet. I won't speak for David, but I do think its worth pointing out you've probably ridden stuff he's engineered (he's ex-SRAM/Rockshox, specifically a rear shock engineer). One thing I find really interesting as I get older is just how much harder it is to ascribe real correlation to an event, despite what may seem obvious. Turns out, there are often many variables to consider, and anecdotes by themselves don't hold as much water as we humans wish. In your case, I'd wager heavier/smashier riders go through shocks at a higher rate regardless of application. How much...

6/20/2024 8:56pm Yup. Total non issue unless you run spindly little coil shocks.

6/20/2024 8:55pm The advantages outweigh the small number of additional broken shocks. the yoke shock breaking thing is overblown imo. Ive seen warranty %s.

6/19/2024 6:30am I think bike co ops and good bike shops will if you write off the frame and bring it in for inspection or replacement/donation.
