12/5/2025 9:28am Ah, I was curious if the net was actually scaled according to value for an e-bike, or in the interests of competitive pricing they ran a per unit target profit. Hence my assumption that manufacturers were tying up more money for longer, without realizing an equivalent profit to cover their risk.

12/5/2025 8:07am I'm genuinely curious how the economics of e-bikes may differ from that of acoustic bikes. As in, do they stress a company more on the supply side by tying up capital for longer, with less potential revenue for that risk.

11/25/2025 9:34am Batteries are batteries. Everybody just uses existing cells, there's no new tech there, just different packaging by the bike power unit manufacturers. The primary weight in any e-bike is the battery. 600wh is the size/weight limit for me personally. That makes something that's overpowered like the dji not optimal. 11/20/2025 9:19am I'm sure there's a structural limitation there at some point, but it's not been an issue with the forbidden setup. They use the same dropouts on their downhill bike. Never heard of a failure. They did have an issue with the retaining bolts being out of spec slightly and causing the dropouts to loosen up over time, that's been corrected...

For example, brands that do not have a consistent f/r ratio due to not adjusting chainstay lengths appropriately between sizes typically have better handling mediums. 11/17/2025 12:42pm Sun peaks is my favourite. We usually camp there for a week or two in our van every summer. Lots of restaurants/lounges. Good golf course, there's an indoor/outdoor pool, a few bike shops, and live bands sometimes. Less of a party atmosphere than whistler, very chill, usually no lift lines, and still great riding. Not as beat up as whistler...

Which is good for advertised power density, but the lower voltage will make the drive unit inherently less efficient. So that extra power density may not equate to actual ride time. Just like graphene, it's a concept with some grounding in material science, but no effective path to a deliverable. I still have faith in human ingenuity, but ss batteries...

11/14/2025 8:02am It's "graphene" all over again 😁 That went from science to marketing real quick, and has never been produced outside a laboratory. Solid state has been just around the corner for over 30 years, seems unlikely to be tomorrow. But someone will attempt to use it in a marketing sense. Semi solid state sounds suspiciously like lithium polymer.
