In the "Golden age" of XC mtb in Spain (early 90's), many big sponsors were alcohol or tobacco firms and we had the "Larios DH Cup" (gin), the "J&B XC Cup" (whiskey), "Team Coronas mtb" (tobacco) and others. Money was flowing, good times. Years later (after the tobacco and alcohol sponsorship and advertising ban) I still remember the Grundig World Cup and others. Maybe not tobacco and/or alcohol, but I think external money can be very welcome back in the mtb circus.

I think there is something to the higher weight, less mobility thing, but to me that isn't the major thing that makes Jackson's riding different. The biggest thing I see is Jackson's corner speed on steep terrain, which I put (in part) down to his light weight allowing him to brake later and slow himself down for corners more easily than a heavier rider. Jackson seems to be able to gap into sections, clearing over bumps and holes, and then slow himself down on a dime. A heavier rider like Loic or Minnaar wouldn't be able to brake enough for...

Thanks mate for the kind words and astute bike-nerd-in-arms observation! (Funnily enough I also received a comment saying this build was no bueno because the tyres didn't match and for running Rockshox with Fox! 🤣).

It's always a pleasure seeing a build that well thought out. It really shows who rides a bike and knows what he needs,vs who builds a bike to show off. Congrats!

I feel like the most important thing for mountain bike fit is the distance from your feet to your hands. Basically center of BB to the center point of a line drawn from middle of one hand to the other when on the grips. This is also the method Sam Hill uses to fit and setup bikes. Once you find the number that works for you, bike setup is so easy. As far as what this distance should "be" is open to interpretation , but Lee has some good thoughts about it.
