If you're 220 pounds and you're folding tires, just take the weight penalty and ride the proper tires. Bike weight is not as important as the industry tells you, and you'll get used to the extra weight if you choose to not dwell on it during your rides. I'd recommend at least DD tires front and rear, with inserts added if you're denting rims or still rolling your rear tire. I weigh 190 pounds and live in the rocky part of Washington, and I used to be fast once. I run DD front and DH rear, and I wouldn't go...

Loic is a genuine dude. Props to Specialized for letting him be who he is and say what he wants. Too many fake, brand-protecting personalities in this sport. Mountain biking needs more people like Loic.

Brilliant. So authentic, this is what I love about DH and Vital.

Loic is dating a World Cup XC rider, if I recall correctly, hence the ribbing from The Goat.

A little context to this may help. The GNCC series a couple years ago began allowing ebikes to be ridden to pre-ride the race course to scope lines etc. Before that, riders were allowed to ride the course on bicycles, but being a GNCC moto/atv course, it was brutal. The ebikes allowed riders to get around easier, saving energy for the race. There are literally hundreds of ebikes at the GNCC races already. Kids, dads, pro racers, everyone has them! I assume it only made sense to create a race for them as well, mostly for fun. Just wanted to...

The AMA is the appropriate governing body and GNCC is the perfect series for e-MTB events. Makes more sense than the UCI in my opinion.

"Is something like this a confirmation that e-bikes should be treated like motorcycles?" No. The fact that they're cycles with motors does, though.

With Gee's comments on rebound and Bruni's interview, are we seeing riders moving towards softer suspension settings (maybe more progression) and faster rebound? I think an early inside line podcast talked about this a bit (can't remember who). I tried this myself and the traction is awesome in the rough but you do miss a little on smoother tracks for pumping/playfullness

Any comparisons you could make between the Carbon Smuggler and this? They seem pretty comparable despite 20mm difference in rear travel. Smuggler pedal/climb better and make better use of pumping the terrain? Jeffsy should have a good bit more in reserve for rapid chunk while descending, but does it give it up a bit on the climbs and mellower trail terrain?

I love at 2:12 where he's literally just climbing a super steep hill. It shows you don't need big jumps or super gnar terrain to challenge yourself and come up with creative lines while riding.
