iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: KS Lev Ci Dropper Post
3/14/2017 9:28am
When KS dropped the original Lev back in 2012, we were impressed enough to call it “best in class” at the time. The dropper post market has certainly heated up since those days, and with at least 15-20 viable options now available to riders, KS can’t afford to stand still if it wants to keep up. To that end, the original Lev has seen ongoing refinement, but it was the recent appearance of a carbon version that really caught our attention. Initially released in a super-short, 65mm version for the XC crowd, KS has now followed suit with a full-length...

@mattyswenson Liked a product review Tested: OneUp Components Bash Guide
3/6/2017 10:42am
Review by Matt Swenson // Photos by Chris Wellhausen (Action) and Matt Swenson (Product) OneUp Components produces a wide range of drivetrain products and this Bash Guide, they claim, will “eliminate dropped chains forever and more than double your chainring life.” The simplistic, light and durable chainguide isn’t just for enduro racers like Richie Rude and Jared Graves, we used it for trail riding, bike park ripping and even some DH racing. After two months of testing on two different bikes, we’re ready to share our thoughts on this guide. OneUp Bash Guide Features Weight: 87g 28-30T, 102g 32-34T, 105g...

Long story short, when racing I have (had) a tendency to drop the chain; like a lot, even with a narrow-wide. A worn chain and sprockets more than likely didn't help my cause, but I bought one of these puppies and have been handsomely rewarded for my efforts. Through two normal riding days (which I rarely ever dropped chains anyway), a race practice day and the actual race; I can report no dropped chains. The guide came with everything needed to get up and running. Set up was supereasy; I didn't need any of the spacer for the chain line...

iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: Hope 10-48T Cassette
3/6/2017 10:31am
When SRAM introduced its XX1 group, 5 years ago now already, it kicked off the first real wave of significant (r)evolution in mountain bike drivetrains for some time. Sure, we’d been steadily gaining cogs out back and Shimano had introduced the clutch derailleur as a way to help keep chain slap at bay, but essentially, we were still talking about the same old stuff. The advent of the wide range, 1x11 transmission changed all that. On the back of SRAM’s big move, cassettes started getting wider and front derailleurs were discarded by the container load. Aftermarket solutions that modify existing...

iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: Hope Tech 35W Wheelset
3/6/2017 10:29am
Review by Johan Hjord // Photos by Johan Hjord and Tal Rozow Rims have been getting wider and wider over the past few years, with manufacturers citing features like lower tire pressures, wider contact patches, and higher air volume as the main reasons behind the trend. Additionally, the plus-size tire “movement” has once again opened people’s minds to experimenting with fatter tires, and as a result, there’s a fresh batch of weird and wonderful new tire widths to choose from. Hope took their time before jumping in with an extra-wide rim offering of their own, but with the 35W they...

gazelle11 Liked a product review Ergon GE1 Grips
3/6/2017 10:22am
First of all, I can say that there's an "accident" when I bought this grips. But later, I can say that this is a "sweet accident" to have the grips. I before decided to get another popular grips out there, and when I went to my favorite bike shop, the grips are already out of stock. But finally I picked this, the Ergon GE1 grips. After that, I just tested the grips in a 25 km riding on the same day. With mixed terrain such as road, trail, uphill and even light enduro, I can say that this is the...

tylerb Liked a product review Firm, medium diameter grip.
3/6/2017 10:21am
Ihave had several friend rave about these grips, so I figured it was time to give them a shot. My go to grip is the ODI Rogue, so that might tell you that I am a fan of larger, softer grips. The Ergons were bit firmer than I like, but I decided to give them a shot anyway. The shape is comfortable, but I wish the diameter of the grip was flipped. I would prefer the bulkier part of the grip to be on the inside and then tapering down toward the outside. I have about 15 hours on...

dirtworks911 Liked a product review Industry Nine Torch Classic Rear Hub
3/6/2017 10:11am
Out of the box, you will quickly realize that Industry Nine makes one of the best looking hubs on the market. Their smooth lines, quality anodized finish, multiple colorways make them a real condenser for someone in the market for customization. In addition to this, the weight of their hubs makes them even more appealing. Throwing in a freehub that has 120 points of engagement makes the Classic Torch hubs one of the best all-round hubs on the market. Performance: Looking past the fancy outside, the heart of the Torch hub is it’s freehub. Just like many of the high...

lagocza Liked a product review Maxxis High Roller II Review
12/26/2016 10:42am
Ihave always been a fan of Maxxis tires, I have ridden Continental, Schwalbe, Forte, Kenda, and more, but I always go back to Maxxis. I am a fairly hard charging rider, and I slip off line quite a bit (more guts than skill at times). This means every tire I buy I look for ones that have durable sidewalls and good cornering traction. I run a 2.4 ardent in the rear, and like that tire because it has a suitable amount of traction, while still being able to break loose in a controlled manner for drifting corners. The front...

NMK183 Liked a product review Comfortable, all-day protection
10/24/2016 11:38am
These were my 4th set of knee pads in the last 6 or so years and every time I always had the same complaints: Knee pads are uncomfortable to pedal in, they slip down my leg if I ignore the pinching while pedaling, and when I do fall on them, they slide around and my knees get bashed up anyway. Enter the IXS Flow knee pads. Not only do they address all of my previous complaints regarding knee pads, but they also stay cool on hot days, are super comfortable to wear ( I often forget they are on) and...
