I'm 90% certain I'm going to regret this thread and it will become old men yelling into an echo chamber about clouds, but here goes. Some of the comments sections, forum posts and general consumer feedback for recent product releases has me wondering about vitriol from consumers in this sport. I think we all realize that humans are at a wired tight moment for w/e reason... but to me it seems like we're on a path of increasing angst with regards to product releases. It all has me wondering if this is something that is more prominent in mountain biking...

4/20/2024 12:22am There is a small trail network (6 or so trails) at Raglan. If you're in that area you might as well check out Pirongia as mentioned, pretty cool place with new trails are being built regularly.

Full degrease at new. Wax chain in a rice cooker with paraffin wax then lube with squirt every 4 or so rides until I can be bothered waxing again. The wax gets deep into the chain where the external application of squirt isn't very good at getting.

9/23/2019 5:25pm Man, everyone has so much motivation everywhere you look to put in the work off season. Maes will be beyond driven after the suspension, Rude the same. Florian has tasted it & will want that top notch. Sam is driven by the slow start to show up healthy in the spring, Daily will want to get back to form, Miguel is starting to believe, Ravanel, Oton & Melamed will be hungry to show up healthy. Neer now knows he belongs & is gonna scare some. It's like the World Cup...if you never got to see video.

too much elaboration around a Guy that is so loyal to what works for him, and sticks to it...you wont see him in 470mm reach bike & +780mm bars anytime soon...

First of all thanks for the detailed reply. Second, I'm well aware of how geometry works, I'm also a believer in longer chainstay length combined with longer wheelbase for a more central body position. The point I'm trying to make is that; A ) Fit and comfort are very important, if you're not comfortable on the bike you're not going to ride it to its potential. B ) Say, Hypothetically, someone could ride pretty much everywhere faster then their competitors, except in slow/tight corners, wouldn't it be beneficial to sacrifice some wheelbase to make for a more nimble bike. C...

My last reply should've answered why, but since you believe it's simple thinking, I'm going to have to elaborate. The gist of it: I'm wondering if accepting a compromise in seated position comfort, for improved out-of-the-saddle comfort, would improve his results. Upsize to get more front center, at cost of longer ST and ETT. I believe out-of-the-saddle geo optimization has been largely neglected. I suspect that people sit their asses in the saddle more than they should, because their bike has poor handling quirks out-of-the-saddle. Take a common CS length, 430 or 435. Again, why though? Everyone seems to think that Pros NEED to have the longest slackest bike possible. Surely it makes more sense for someone like Sam (who clearly has no problem going faster then most of his competitors) to prioritize fit and comfort.

Pretty sure the fender is a Mud Hugger. And the GPS is the Stages Dashboard.
