Rims aren't forever, but some Chris King and similar quality hubs sure feel close.

Yeah the geometry change is the worst part, 7° fits me the best but I gave up a while ago since 40mm is the highest currently rise you can get. Worse yet, almost everything 60mm+ is 9° or more. I find this strange because taller people will generally want less backsweep. This sorta gets to your point about the relationship between backsweep and width but I would contend the opposite (for aggressive mtb positioning at least). Grip angle increases the wider you spread your hands out, so one should find that as the bar narrows, less backsweep is needed to...

Thats the thing about servicing suspension though, if you stay current you prevent a lot of wear and performance degradation. A fresh lower service feels better for a couple rides, but I don't notice damper service at all since the damper was still working before service.

Follow-up question how do you guys define "hours" of riding? If you go to a lift or shuttle assisted bike park all day, does that count as 8h of riding or just the ~1h of descending? I think most would agree the descending only. But then, if you are doing loops that are mostly road/fireroads up, then a big descent, on a regular bike the ratio is probably 1h climbing for 5 minutes of descending. Ebikes are more like 1h up for 20minutes down, but your suspension is more active on the uphill in virtually all scenarios.

Think this is what attracted us: seeing remote places with dream trails… Mexico, Rotorua, Madeira, and so many others. "PLACES EWS was a holiday agency with ads for bike holiday destinations and for new Enduro-related bike tech, with some racing involved. They then sold it not to a travel company, but to a TV company." And the coverage was great — done by riders on their social media pages, Pinkbike and Vital, with world-leading photographers all present, bike checks, raw videos, etc. It was pure and real. With Discovery and the media restrictions, all that was taken away, and the...

If I was a pro EDR athlete that didn't want to or couldn't make the jump to DH at least part time, I'd be rollin as many of the mega mass start style events into my schedule as I could. The training is similar with pedaling power often a deciding factor in the outcome. The POV vids from the Megavalanche and its fellow mass start enduro style giant descent races are thrilling and the head to head nature of it is very exciting. Some of my favorite mtb vids this year were the head to head POV's from Killian Bron...

I find the Argotal knobs to be too high for an intermediate tyre, I prefer to run a Kryptotal Rear at the front for similar reasons to the ones described in this article. Kryptotals also seem to be the longest lasting rubber for a given level of grip by a country mile.

Sweet bike with very cool spec choices! I hope Deviate can come back to life and you get your job back if you still want it. I loved the riding and reports by Mathew Fairbrother on his crazy adventures and Mael Feron who rode UP to the start of the Megavalanche and then took 5th in the race back down on a Deviate. Inspiring stories that made me check out the brand.

To be fair things got a little out of hand with the component spec, which helps a ton with the weight. It is 4.5kg lighter than my enduro bike, so definitely feels hugely different!

I'm 5'4" and this looks fantastic for both short after work blasts and all day epics. If the geo posted in geometrygeeks is correct then it's pretty much my idea of the perfect XC/light trail bike. Great job!
