Jason_Schroeder Liked a product review FIRST RIDE - 2027 Vivid Ultimate Shock
4/8/2026 1:36pm
RockShox resurrected the Vivid in 2023 with bold claims of coil-like performance. You know, what most brands say about their large volume gravity air shocks. However, if there was ever a time that the marketing hype lived up to expectations, it's been with the Vivid. Incredibly light and active off the top, but supportive and controlled under compression, the Vivid has been one of the best, most coil-like-feeling air shocks we’ve ridden. For model year 2027, the Vivid receives a few changes aimed at reducing friction as much as possible to get the shock moving quickly and consistently, and...

3/19/2026 1:07pm Just got this from Knolly: A Message from Noel Buckley I'm going to keep this simple because you deserve that. The last few years have been the hardest this industry has ever seen, and Knolly has not been immune. But we have been fighting through it: restructuring costs, tightening operations, and doing the difficult work of right-sizing the business to match a new reality. We were making progress. That progress was cut short. Our bank, RBC, has made the decision to call in our account. This comes at a time when RBC is posting record annual profits, $20.4 billion last...

1/27/2026 12:59pm hello ! I am deeply concerned that our beloved discipline is dying just for marketing purposes and left behind like useless theme instead of aknowlege that enduro pushed the MTB development further more that all of us canned imagine !!! I hope the resurgence of venues like "super enduro" back in the day( ITALY ) or the allmountain race by...
Race Cascadia Liked a forum topic Grassroots Enduro... Where Should It Go?
1/27/2026 12:49pm With all the hullabaloo on the internet about the Death of Enduro or the inexorable takeover of E-bikes, one would think that the sport of pedal bikes as we know it is in full rigor, eulogized, and buried, six feet under with a concrete cap stone. If the loss of Hill, Jack, Jessie, and Richie (?) wasn't bad enough, having Eddie step away with his flip flops and trademark trackside charisma must have sealed the deal. Not to mention having so few teams left on the EDR (what does that stand for again?) circuit, it's hard to imagine it continuing...

3/3/2025 12:05pm Round one of the Coil Shock Shootout: five rear shocks tested on a short section of mostly downhill trail. The shocks have all been tuned for the same bike, and are using the same spring. All shocks have been setup prior to being tested. A Freelap system will record the time for each run, and a subjective measure of perceived speed or "feel" will be noted before looking at the actual time. The Test Rig 2023 Specialized Enduro running an Intend Edge fork, and O-Chain device. I feel the kinematics of the Enduro make it a good test rig with...

Between The Tape Liked a forum topic High vs. Low Tire Pressures: Which Is Faster?
1/24/2025 10:47am We all know the theory: lower tire pressures mean more grip, and higher pressures roll faster. But when it comes to real-world speed, which one really wins? I set out to answer this with 30 timed runs down the same track. ◾ The Experiment Two sets of tire pressures were chosen for my 88kg (194lbs) weight: 25/28 psi (front/rear) for the higher pressures and 18/20 psi (front/rear) for the lower pressures. These pressures maintain a consistent 0.9 front-to-rear ratio, with the high pressures aligning with recommendations such as those from E13 . After three warm-up laps, each tire pressure setup...

theTTshark Liked a reply to forum topic Bypass tubes on mountain bike shocks or forks? (Trophy truck tech)
1/21/2025 10:56am Long time listener, first time caller here. These by-pass tubes are a version of position sensitive dampers. In the race car world in series where these can exist, they are a great sounding concept that can be made difficult if you try to use them for super precise applications. Knowing exactly what ride height you encounter the condition you want to control is difficult. If you are simply trying to increase damping as you get closer to bottoming out, the decision gets simpler. But in that case, mountain bikes already have some easier ways of getting that behavior with air...

11/12/2024 11:22am Hey, I’m Ryan Burney. I’ve spent eight years as an engineer for full-suspension bikes, working on some fun projects, like developing the flex Horst link for the Cannondale Scalpel and being lead engineer for the latest GT Fury downhill bike. With over a decade of downhill racing under my belt (even made it to one World Cup—though I didn’t qualify so I stuck to engineering), I've had the pleasure of racing alongside the Vital crew, like Jason, Tanner, and Dak. Below is a photo of me, being slower than Dak. These days, I’m focused on my own projects, but I...

AndehM Liked a reply to forum topic How Much Suspension Travel Do You Want vs. Need in Your Mountain Bike?
9/18/2024 12:15pm If you'd asked me a year or more ago what my ideal travel bike was, I would have quickly answered a 170mm enduro type. Beginning of '23 I got a Nomad 6 and love(d) it. It pedals really well for how much travel it has, but has enough suspension that it can erase poor line choice and handle a few days per year at the bike park. But then this year I got a Heckler SL ebike (which is basically the new Bronson with a mid power motor), and damned if that thing isn't more poppy and playful than the...
