This Just In! Stark Motorcycles is going to be joining the MTB world with its EBike Called the Stark “NotaMoto”. This ebike has 80 horse power and a gear box. Apparently they made the decision to join the bike industry after one of the executives said- “ I mean its all bullshit. You can buy an ebike from Specialized at the same price as our motorcycles. But with like 1/1000th the power. We should just put mountain bike wheels on a Varg and just sell it to them. Theyre just in denial that they want a motorcycle and want to...

I should have written „for a whole ride“. Your post sounds a bit harsh imho. ;-) And no doubt, there are people who ride their emtbs like regular bikes. And folks who can ride (again) because of emtbs. Cool! And I don’t even judge, as long as people enjoy emtbing, I am happy. Regular bikers can also be fun OR problematic, no worries. But to me it feels more and more like a different sport. It’s not biking it’s biking with a motor… If I am on an emtb, I sure ride differently. And most bikers who were bikers before...

I think that's sort of the point, the only metric anyone cares about is the motor. The essence of riding an eBike is what the motor gives you. The rest of the "bike" part takes a back seat. And no one seems to care, even though the slippery slope foreboding was waved away as an irrational fear

Somehow emtbs are going in a direction a lot of us figured they’d go from the start. It is more and more about the motor and the battery and less and less about the „bike“ part. They might be fun, they might be fast. But to me it seems more and more like two different sports. With those new torque numbers, it seems rather dubious (ridiculous) to talk of assistance. Maybe the rider assisting the motor, but not the other way around. Not even world class sprinters come close to outputting what a full power Avinox or Bosch is doing...

Static and dynamic climbing rope also comes to mind. Hanging on the two ropes, loads are the same, as a freebody diagram would suggest. A 40' whiper on a dynamic rope is survivable, maybe even fun. 40' whiper on a static rope is a potentially life ending event, both for you and the rope. Something to be said for slowing...

I highly doubt that any self-respecting bike brand would equip their bikes with S500 or S200 over Transmission. Even bike shops will have to explain to their customers why they can't just replace worn parts with the same new ones. IMO this is just a sales push towards Transmission, period, probably needed because the ole good Eagle works a bit too well.

I'm not a fan of the size and weight of the T-Type mechanical offerings. I fall pretty deep into the weight-weenie category though, so perhaps a minority here. They just seem so unnecessarily massive. I would have been totally fine if they just kept making the same old X01 and XX1 gear.
Stocking up on XX1 chains. Really unhappy with the new SRAM offerings. Next bike might be Shimano. Edit: shoot - are people unhappy with me because I'm not wild about the latest SRAM drivetrain components replacing Eagle, or because I suggested moving from one "S" company to the other?

If the XX1 chains go away, this is super bad news. I assume S200 will be at the shitty GX level, if that. Edit: looks like there is still the S500 chain that replaces the old XX1. The S200 chain is crap, as is SRAM's replacement matrix.

i am personally feeling like sram is making some serious strategic errors. shimano was against the ropes but they have some really awesome offerings in the the low and mid tier mechanical gruppos. maybe sram doesn't want to play in the mud but a LOT of riders just want solid mid-tier components that work. for people better in the know: where are the the two brands at for high end wireless?

Well, turns out the manufacturer of such shiny products, happens to be engineers themselves, and after testing and comparisons came to the conclusion that, with their design, the difference in stiffness between the 15 and 20 was only 4% a % that can easily be offset with the right choice of hub rather than something random like most people run ( see Yeti and their podium builds with dt 350 ) After riding the Edge with the 15mm axle and i9 hydra 2 front hub, I came to the conclusion that I don’t need a 20mm axle and the pain...
