Mickey, you’re absolutely spot-on with your last paragraph. I started mountain biking in 2015, and back then, every bike company and magazine I followed—mostly Mountain Bike Action—were pushing the same design mantra: “longer, lower, and slacker.” For three or so years, that’s all we heard. Suddenly, I found myself riding with 810 mm handlebars, a bottom bracket so low it...

Sorry there’s absolutely no way danny hart is being paid more than 100k canadian per year. I would wager there’s very few riders on the downhill circuit getting more than that from one contract. Engineers at Norco don’t make much more than that.

with Neko mentioning only racing the national series it could be safe to bet he's learned enough from Whitely the past 15 years to do that work.

Self promotion here, but we’ve just dropped a new episode with Ellie Hulsebosch on her joining the Syndicate, plus plenty of other topics! She’s super determined and clearly fast as hell, can’t wait to see what the future holds Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5bTHO9PK95SOSQV6Rt3NhK?si=SmvfFKdGRHu9… Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/the-otb-podcast/id1614212374?i=10… YouTube: https://youtu.be/qmHW09wEW5U?si=Zh67ponhKK5cawwD

Lol I mean...yeah. But they know he's not coming close to the top juniors right now, which is perfectly fine. So, they have to have other expectations and I'd love to know what they are given he's now on probably history top 3 teams.

Wonder what Santa Cruz's expectations are for Griffiths? Comparatively, he is a level down from where Max Alran was at the same age. I wonder if with good tutage, they see Felix filling a void left by Tyler, Asa, and Max after this coming season. I am assuming he will be a first year junior.
Well - not sure, but since you asked... I don't think there is any reason teammates would have to ride the same bikes. In many ways, they are not now anyway. Eitehr the better riders are getting the latest and greatest, see spesh; or teams are leaning in on the Uncaged model - YT oviously, but possibly a little Norco...

Our local Enduro scene is doing great. 12 rounds in 2024 and race registration is only for the month before each race. Part of what I thought was weird about EWS is it had this weird reputation of being a series for retired downhill racers. That doesn’t sound very enticing from a sponsorship or big money coverage perspective. I find it wild that they don’t have a dozen GoPros or whatever to hand out at each stage that get turned in at the end of each stage and swap cards and batteries for the next racer and stage.

100% You know what else is not covered like f1...tons of sports. And they are doing fine. For unknown reasons, probably because he claims he invented it, Ball thought enduro needed to be covered like DH. It didn’t. But by saying it, he started looking for a solution to a problem that didn't exist. As a result, beget a problem...

Enduro is not dead. World Cup enduro is dead, enduro was and always will be for the common folk like us.

I would ban the big rigs from the pits, and put everyone on a more privateer-like level. You'd get far more brand support, but as it is, no one can justify paying big salaries, plus mechanics, team managers, etc. If you pay an athlete $100k a year, you're going to pay another $100k to get that athlete to the start line at each race that season. It's too expensive for what brands get in return.

Goldstone has to be #1 in a keeper. Could you imagine if UCI dh got its head out of its ass and created teams of equal number riders? It gives you a reason to root for everyone. It creates a reason to root for riders outside the very best; it gives teams a vested interest in developing riders.
