earleb Added a reply to Compliant mechanisms in suspension frame design?
10/26/2023 3:23pm I've been down a whole bunch of rabbit holes looking at ways to apply compliant mechanisms to a suspension layout. Countless hours in linkage, numerous scientific papers read, and much daydreaming. Some applications. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cq2pj7SJ-Xb/ Two pivots replaced with the flex of a tube. https://www.instagram.com/p/CtPAC95p1qy/?g=5&img_index=1 3d printed flex dropouts https://www.instagram.com/p/CeT-oDVBcpN/?img_index=1 Possible application would be to replace the slider mech on Arc8...

10/26/2023 10:03am No current plans to build for sale. MK5 is in the works. Take Mk3 and Mk4 and smash them together you get Mk5, I need to finalize some flat sheet metal design for the shock tunnel and get that off to Send Cut Send. When talking frame design for me the question is what are the design goals? I started...

10/25/2023 1:51pm It's the pull link under the bb they are trying to patent, or rather the kinematics and adjustability they can get from it.

10/22/2023 10:01am How would you go about this when you have no fixed points on a clean sheet build? The number of variables seems like it would take much longer thorough out an idea. With Linkage you can quickly moch something up and see what your general kinematics would look like and decide if it's worth more time.

10/22/2023 9:56am Tairin a little hub upstart here in Vancouver is making a silent clutch hub that disengages the pawls on coasting. The freehub can spin backwards thus taking up the pedal kickback slack. https://www.tairinwheels.ca/product-page/silent-shogun-rear-hub It has 5.5 degrees of float before engagement so less slop than OChain and without the sponge feel of an Onyx. Not many of them in the...

10/20/2023 11:20am All fabrication done by myself in the garage. I have small benchtop mill, benchtop lathe, and an oxy-propane brazing set up. Jig is also garage made out of cold rolled steel a design copied from a number of Colorado builders that use a similar design. The first single pivot frame was build with hand files, hacksaw and a vise. No...

10/20/2023 9:49am First rule of frame design, ignore marketing crap. Compare a whole bunch of different designs in Linkage and realize that everyone is slowly converging on the same thing. The window of preferred anti-squat and leverage ratios is narrowing in on roughly 100% anti-squat at sag and a LR of 20-25% linear progression starting around 2.8 to 3.0. Anti-rise seems to...

10/11/2023 11:17am Nope doesn't look like a regular bike. I kinda like it. I do like the philosophy behind why it looks like it looks. Centralize the mass to keep weight off the front end placing handing characteristic above looks.
