This has been a great thread. One thing that has come to mind, is why doesn't RockShox/Fox/Etc. have a traveling "pit" that moves around for the summer from key riding place to key riding places to help people with suspension tuning? I would happily pay a fee and get some service done. Lot of great comments in this thread but one of my biggest takeaways is how easy it is to go down a path that could get you pretty far away from where you want to be.

Allen, you referenced adding spacers to increase mid-stroke support--that's not true and wanted to point it out just to clarify for other readers. It's important to point out the myth (that I've heard repeated in Youtube videos and in written web articles) that adding tokens is for mid-stroke. .... Adding Tokens/spacers have very minimal effect on the mid-stroke. They affect and are used for ramp up the latter third of the travel. I shoulda been more descriptive and explained things better in that initial comment so that I'm not having to go back and clarify now. fun with marcelo. his 2017 garbanzo-winning glory (carbon) vs the alloy one from valpo. this is not scientific, there's plenty of room for error and comparing an urban DH setup w/ a garbo setup is probably a bad idea. still fun though. the alloy one looks a tiny bit lower in the BB w/ a shorter head tube. the blue points are the alloy glory, the pink points are the carbon garbanzo glory Carbanzo (TM)

Sigh the sport is further digging some holes as far as welcoming outsiders with Trek focusing on "youth" and teams having "Dudes" in the name. No need to walk on glass worrying about every last word and rider image but coming in a bit from the other extreme with official brand marketing might help. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
