3/7/2018 6:17am How about 29er vs 275 test? Maybe take the top 3 29ers from this test and race them against the top three from a 275 test. Also do the same with DH bikes. Then do DH bikes against trail bikes on a DH trail because everyone says these new trail bikes descend like a DH bike and I don’t believe them

D(C) Added a comment about feature Budget Bike Comparison - Four $3,000 Direct-to-Consumer Enduro Bikes
1/22/2018 1:30pm Ok, I checked with Commecal. It’s the Grip damper. A bit too bad, considering the even cheaper “Ride” version has a Lyrik RC, which I would consider to be a higher-end fork.

1/2/2018 10:09am I watch the hell out of BCPov. He might not be the most charismatic dude out there but the trails are amazing and it's filmed well.

D(C) Added a comment about feature Budget Bike Comparison - Four $3,000 Direct-to-Consumer Enduro Bikes
12/10/2017 7:32am There is a FIT4 sticker at the bottom of the leg on the Commencal, so unless the product photos are inaccurate, that's the damper in there. My guess is that the fork just has the 3 modes but no open adjust, and the rear shock also lacks the open adjust, but otherwise are there any appreciable differences with how the suspension behaves compared to top versions? If not, the Commencal could pack a lot of value.

12/8/2017 2:42pm What’s the deal with the Fox Performance 36 and DPX2 on the Commencal? Is it actually of inferior performance or are the dampers the same as the top models but with less external adjustments?

Alternative hyphothesis: Lap 1: full of energy (fastest up and overall), getting to know the course Lap 2: good level of energy, knew the descent and could push it a bit more (fastest DH) Lap 3: he was tired

9/19/2016 7:09am Although the sticker says Debonair, that looks like an HV can. A review of the Mega 290 on PB says that they have been speccing the bike with an HV can after finding it to be a better fit for the bike than the Debonair can.

D(C) Added a reply to The Internet Was Wrong: Short Chainstays Suck*
7/19/2016 10:04am I think you need to consider a bike a whole, not just in terms of individual geometry dimensions. Everything needs to work together. For example, a 26" full suspension bike with long stays may end up feeling similarly balanced to a 29er hardtail with short stays. I agree that the shorter-is-better preference misses the big picture. But so does absolutely...

8/25/2015 12:38pm It would still be great to know weight. If the penalty is minimal, these could be advantageous at any budget due to better durability.

Review by AJ Barlas // Product Photos AJ Barlas, Riding Photos Jon Anthony Almost a full year ago now, Trek revealed to the world a special sauce they'd been working on with top motorsports racing outfit, Penske. That technology was the RE:aktiv damper, a unit that took onboard Penske's advanced regressive suspension tech used in their F1 race car suspension, and a range of similar applications. After initially enjoying a couple of days aboard the RE:aktiv equipped Trek Fuel in South Carolina, we were eager to spend more quality time on this bike and suspension technology, on trails we commonly...

Has anyone ever actually damaged cables running under the downtube, or is the negative comment about this routing more of a "what if"? Also, if you found it to ride too high in its travel and didn't feel supple on small bumps, it sounds like you could have set up the suspension better, either by dropping pressure or increasing negative air pressure.

D(C) Added a comment about feature First Look: SRAM X1 Drivetrain - 1x11 Trickling Down
5/2/2014 11:32am The pricing on the cassette seems like a lot to charge for what they're offering. It's easy to see how the XX1 or X01 cassette, machined from a single block of steel, would be expensive. But they're charging just a bit less for what is mostly a conventional cassette that happens to have a few extra teeth. I just don't see the justification for a $313 msrp for this product.
