I just completed the first ride on it. That was 20+ miles with about 1200’ of climbing and much more descending. I decided to use Automatic instead of Manual. Even with Automatic there is still some setup required but that’s easy to work through. On the trail, I could hear the system switching modes frequently and making adjustments. The noise didn’t bother me but the mode light was a bit distracting as I found myself looking at it with each mode change. There is the option to run it as Blackout and I’ll likely try that next so there’s minimal...

This is a 210mm X 55mm standard eyelet shock. There’s pin mount hardware kits you’ll need to source, available through your Trek dealer. Holler if you need the part numbers and I’ll try to track down what was ordered specific to the Fuel EX.

The stock shock was trunnion Thru Shaft, so there were mount kits required for the shock (from Cane Creek), as well as required frame mount hardware (from Trek). If the stock shock was traditional eyelet type, then it’s possible to reuse all of the existing mounting hardware.

I’m a fan of the coil on the Fuel EX. This is a progressive rate spring; I also have a linear rate spring but haven’t found the need or want to try it yet. Cane Creek suggests the coil installed behaves similar to an air spring with 1 volume spacer as far as progressiveness. The shock is super active but I have yet to bottom it, even when jumping. The coil fork is a bit of a different story. That I’ve managed to bottom during jumps; I have a higher rate spring to install but I don’t want to sacrifice...

Looks great! How is the coil shock in there? I want to install one onto my fuel ex but some people say the linkage is too linear so the shock bottoms out to often? How does it feel for you and can you recommend it?

Riding an Ebike for the first time was mind blowing. Not only does weight not matter in a lot of circumstances, but it's awesome in others. The bike carried so much speed through flatter sections of trail. It's like bumps couldn't slow it down. And the added grip on roots, slick rocks, and in turns was immediately noticeable. Made me think about taping lead weights to my bike like that lovable kook from England.

This one was assembled in WI through Project One, even though it was initially just a stock 9.8 XT. The turnaround at the time of order was 45 days instead of 6+ months.
