Incredible as always. Tailwhip drop was bonkers. Tricks and filming still setting the standard.

So filmed and edited wonderfully. Left wanting more shred. Brett has so much shred in the tank, I wish this showcased that more

Ah thanks for the clarification. I’ve had a fork do this after taking off on jumps, glad to hear this isn’t the case.

It’s not a full top out clunk, it’s more like the ghost of one in certains situations, like picking the bike up while walking it. It’s not a factor in proper riding situations (like a jump for example).

Sounds like it’s performing quite well. Top out clunk drives me nuts and is unacceptable for a fork in this price range.

Longtime NE Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a polarizing figure in American sports, but there's this quote he said that I love and can't get out of my head, "Coaches don't win games. Only the players on the field can win games. Coaches can lose games, though." That's what I think about bikes in competition. Bikes can't win races, but they can lose races. As such, my goal in setting up a bike is that it doesn't lose me the race, i.e. mechanical drag or inefficiency, mechanical failure, flat tires, inconsistent or unpredictable performance, major unpleasant tradeoffs, etc. Basically if...

Dammit I deleted my previous comment by mistake, instead of replying... In my deleted comment I was saying that I beg to differ with this review, these wheels aren't that durable, I'm on my 3rd repair running them for about 3 years on my Specialized Enduro, and that I'm no EWS racer and they shouldn't fail so often. My last repair was due to a crack in the rim nipple, and i9 "graciously" fixed it for ~$300 - the cost of a new wheel elsewhere. Anyways, two gents correctly pointed out that this wheel hasn't been out for 3 years...

It’s really cool to see a bike review so focused on what riding and maintaining the bike was like, and not using the review as a vehicle to build the reviewer’s brand or launder paragraphs from the press release into seemingly original impressions. I didn’t once have to wonder ‘how could the tester know that, how could they have measured that?’ I want to be sympathetic to media workers who may be feeling pressured to write the mtb tech fan fiction that has become Outside’s (among others) core review style content, but the writing is so much better without it...

One thing to remember about chainstay adjustments is that they actually affect your travel number. 10mm of chainstay adjustment adds about 4mm travel. That's not a ton, but 30mm of chainstay adjust would add almost 12-ish mm of travel to the bike and dramatically change the leverage rate on the shock. It affects the suspension kinematic a lot.

This is a good point. I wonder how much chainstay adjustability is possible from a practical point of view. 10mm of adjust is definitely something, but would be cool to see something like 30mm for different riding styles and tracks

I believe it's a riding style thing, Bruni's always been on a very small bike for his size, while Jackson Goldstone rides his bike like a dirt bike, with a 455-465 chainstay.

IMO it’s gone too far. Loic Bruni won a lot of DH in 2022 on a demo with the chainstay position in the middle or short. Top shelf riders can do a lot with the agility shorter chainstays provide. I’m sure this bike is a beast in some situations but I think this type of setup restricts what lines will be faster for a rider.
