Fuck off SRAM you dick brains. People been taking their cogs off for ages, you didn't / haven't invented anything. It's time to say goodbye to your bullshit.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I wasn't suggesting gwin and ratboy are cheating. I don't think they are. I don't want to think anyone is, but that would be naive. I was merely trying to say that if you wanted to be sceptical you could think that winning a race without a chain on a pedal previously pedal friendly track...
Being very sceptical, you two examples of gwin without a chain and bryceland barely pedalling could be see as reason to suspect there is something foul at play. Honestly, I have no idea. I just get the impression that dh is pretty well ignored by the UCI. I don't see the UCI scanning dh bikes at world's like this CX...
So she says she didn't race on it. But her mechanics, thought it was her bike and washed it and put it in the truck. Then handed it over to the UCI as her bike? So a pro-mechanic, who spends more hands on time with a bike than the rider often does couldn't tell?! I think she did it and...

Great idea for a thread, the internet can feel so anonymous sometimes, it's nice to hear people's stories. I usually lurk on these forums but rarely contribute. I'm Andrew. I live in Collingwood, Ontario. I was born and raised in Redcar, UK. I spent my early teens riding BMX at the local skate park. Some young lad called Danny used...

I think these things are a terrible idea! The argument about disabled people using them scares the crap out of me, as a former bike patroller. Do we really want to assist people with a physical deficiency to get further into the wilderness if they are not self sufficient? For example, what happens if they taco a wheel on their...

I can't believe they are complaining about the stage? Its the same for everyone and if you put in the hard work in the offseason you should be loving it. Graves would be grinning ear to ear right now. racing is racing it doesn't matter if the course sucks you need to show up and try your best. The only time you should bring that up is when the course is clearly dangerous due to lack of foresight from organizers otherwise you have pedals and a chain for a reason.....

I actually went narrower this year (gasp!) and I am very much happy I did. Amusingly, I am now back at the stem length/bar width combo that came stock on the bike, albeit with a different sweep and rise. I get the argument that bikes should be supplied with wide bars that can be cut to suit, but i prefer the alternative of dealing with a good bike shop who would swap the bar and stem instead.

I love how most all bike reviewers say to go Wide Wide Wide, even changing out bars on test bikes, yet so many pro riders run right about 740-750 on trail bikes.

I've been using a 1x10 setup with SRAM x9 type 2 derailleur and a Woolftooth chainring for 3 years now without a chain drop. Don't like it, don't buy it, they are still making 2x drivetrains. Maybe I'm just a freak, but I haven't found a hill yet I could climb with my old 2x9 drivetrain that I can't climb with my 1x. I even had a Leonardi General Lee Cassette Adapter for a while (until I wore it out) but the only time I got into the 40t previously was long sustained climbs. I don't see myself personally needing...

Most of the pro xc racers seem to be squids, but riders like Nino Schurter will throw style off jumps and push really hard on the descents. Fun to watch, and super impressive when you consider bike setup (full post, flat bar/drop stem and skinny tires).

Its all relative. Next to the rest of the field he's 'rowdy'. Plus how much can you actually pull with a flat bar, neg stem and a full height post? I just think its refreshing to see someone who actually looks like they mtn bike instead of the sea of roadies who can't get a ride in the peloton. He looks like he enjoys riding his bike in the rougher/downhill sections, whereas most of the racers look terrified to go over a root.
