10/21/2015 2:19pm The shot of Dylan by James is what puts the icing on the cake. The technicality of the drop puts butterflies in your stomach literally. The capture of the mountain range in the background is breathtaking with it being out of focus and sharp up close. Makes anyone want to ride right now.

LTrumpore Liked a product review Tested: Praxis 11-40 Wide Range 10-Speed Cassette
6/25/2015 6:32am
by Lee Trumpore A few years ago, quietly and without much warning, SRAM re-wrote the book on MTB drivetrains and more or less caught everyone else with their pants down with the release of XX1. A slow response from the competition combined with a considerably steep price tag opened the door to several clever manufacturers seeking to fill what amounted to a gaping hole in the drivetrain market. While some offered larger add-on cogs or aftermarket derailleur links, Praxis Works has opted to skip what some saw as a bandaid approach and instead developed an entire wide range 11-40 tooth...

4/29/2015 2:44pm What size rim was that with though? Rim width plays a huge factor, as I'm much more confident on my 2.4's on a 35mm rim than I am on a 21mm rim. I'll be -rebuilding one of my wheelsets for this reason soon too.

4/28/2015 9:29am I've been using a 1x10 setup with SRAM x9 type 2 derailleur and a Woolftooth chainring for 3 years now without a chain drop. Don't like it, don't buy it, they are still making 2x drivetrains. Maybe I'm just a freak, but I haven't found a hill yet I could climb with my old 2x9 drivetrain that I can't climb with my 1x. I even had a Leonardi General Lee Cassette Adapter for a while (until I wore it out) but the only time I got into the 40t previously was long sustained climbs. I don't see myself personally needing...

4/28/2015 9:22am Your weight whinge doesn't add up. One of the only issues with 1x11 is top speed. I think this is more about be able to run a bigger ring up front, rather than an easier climbing gear. There are a load of advantages to using 1x11 (or 1x10) over 2x whatever. I use a guide up front too, as no system is 100% reliable. At the end of the day, you don't have to buy it. No one does.

4/28/2015 9:22am Have you picked up an XX1 or XTR cassette? They are freaky light. You will lose, what, 25g by going to a more compact cassette? Sounds like a win. I think I have lost 1 chain in a year... But I opted for not just the narrow-wide but the tall tooth ring (BlackSpire), no chainguide for me, so YMMV. I love my 1x (with cheater ring for the big mountain days). And if you can't spin a 30t up to 30-40mph on a downhill, you don't know how to pedal at a high cadence. It just takes a quick burst...

2/24/2015 10:11am ree, there is only one universal metric when it comes to shoe sizing between brands and that is the physical CM length on the shoe. Look up what DC shoes CM length is and then find the closest thing to it in 5.10's sizing. it is usually the last sizing scheme alongside Euro, Mondo and whatever else. That should do the trick.

12/31/2014 10:19am If it's anything like going from a 2.25 to a 2.4 Ardent I wouldn't be surprised. The wider tread responds much differently, and you can use lower pressures due to the higher volume. Besides, why wouldn't you run a 2.4 if it fits? Weight? Worth the price to me.

12/31/2014 10:15am Having run Maxxis Ardent's in a 29x2.4 on a Stan's Arch (not newer EX, but old Arch) as well as a Velocity Blunt 35 I can vouch for existing wider tire designs benefiting from the wider rim. I'll be unlacing my old wheels to take advantage of those benefits on both my mountain bikes this winter.

Akrigg is about one video away from being the most sought after cyclist for any brand. He could sell anything. I had a quick moment of thinking CX would be fun.

PHRANQUY Added a reply to Do You Really Need Gloves?
11/26/2013 9:14am I need my hands for work so I wear gloves in case of a crash. I can't tell you how many times I've clipped trees and still ended up with battered/bruised hands. On the road is different however, depends on the weather.
