It's unfortunate that this frame design was Evolve Bikes' first and Shred was able to copy it and Unfortunately its made it to vital first..

I recently asked Evolve Bikes if they knew about Shred's copy cat frame and they said...
"Yes we have. Unfortunately every bike on the market can be copied by knock off companies. There's dozens that imitate even the larger brands. Just the way it is with outsourcing and patents being open. They are a small start up from Portugal and did not use our mould or layup practices from our supplier so it is what it is"

I don't really know the whole process when it comes to picking frame designs and being able to protect them or not but either way I feel kinda bad for Evolve. All the guys there are super friendly and have been working hard at building their brand. Getting a new bike company started in North America isn't all that easy to do when competing against some well established names in the industry.

That's not true actually. The frame is the Ican P9 that has been around for a while now. Ican is a chinese OEM manufacturer and Shred aswell as Evolve just buy their frames and put stickers on them. Which is not bad at all because with these brands the frames are warrentied, promoted etc. It's just not that they did the design behind it.

Thanks for clearing it up. Saying i find it funny that brands tout their designs while buying them int he East would be wrong, because there's nothing funny in misleading the customers. KHS is the main brand doing this in my mind, talking about prototypes, development, factory teams, etc., while they just buy frames off Astro.

EDIT: it also explains why Evlove have three different bikes with COMPLETELY different design language and different suspension systems (ALU DH bike with parallel short links, carbon 27" trail bike with counter rotating short links and a carbon 29" bike with a horst link suspension). I shouldn't be surprised then that these frames are off the shelf eastern designs...
