For loose over hard conditions (SW CO, desert like conditions) I felt like the MM was a little squirmy on the tall knobs. When there is something for those tall knobs to dig into a little, it hooks up very well for cornering and braking. I can see why it is a very popular tire because it is a pretty good all arounder and covers a wide range of dirt types well but really shines for me on the natural terrain where there is a little bit of loam or loose dirt and a slightly softer trail base for those tall knobs to sink into a little.

The TC feels to me like a modern DHF. It rolls faster than the MM for me. The side knobs are more supportive than the MM side knobs but ya gotta get the bike leaned over and trust them or you may get some vagueness on a lower angle lean. The side knobs are pretty far out on the side of the casing and angled out not up. If you are confident leaning, those side knobs dig in and rail very hard with big traction when cornering. Personally, I love it. But I also loved the DHF in the front too and not everyone likes that "gotta lean it to get it to hook up" type feel.

Reviews of the radial casings here in SW CO seem mixed. I love em, but some of the guys I ride with don't seem to like them.

I preferred the Tacky Chan in most scenarios other than really soft conditions where the MM can really dig in. I trust the TC side knobs more and the center tread is bulked up quite a bit from the standard TC.

that's a super helpful comparison. I loved the DHF to the point of not understanding, or really liking, the Assegai when I first rode one. on leaf cover over the cooler months, I am using an Albert, but I'll probably go Tacky Chan in the late spring.

Yeah by the description above I feel I’m not the one for the tacky, with side nobs pointing that far out and my complete dislike for the dhf I can’t see myself liking this one either

I'm on my third Tacky C (supergravity/soft) in the back. I think it's great when it's new but it wears fast. It tracks decent when it's new but when it's been worn down a bit the back skids all over the place. Put on a DHR2 in the back and you notice a significant difference, it's razor sharp in holding the line. I would not put the Tacky up front on a gravity-focused bike.

I'm assuming you mean when the center knobs wear you have braking issues. the shoulders are huge - I would think they're still viable when you're ready to replace the tire due to braking traction?
