Did a new one yesterday - installing a dropper in my new build, went to trim the housing but forgot to pull the cable out. Now the housing is perfect but the cable is too short so I'm just going with a rigid post.
Before that, I managed to defeat the downtube-to-seat tube corner after a long frustrating battle when getting my housing internally routed, just to realize I put it in through the wrong head tube hole
Pull the short cable out, put a new one in? Once the outer is in place you're golden.

that's the plan but on a Sunday afternoon when all the shops were closed, might as well have been the end of the world
A box of cables and a box spool of outers is a must if you wrench on the bike at least a little bit. 🙂
No home mechanic worth his weight in geldings goes anywhere without his 20-pack of cables.
I bought 100 inner cables and crimp ends off AliExpress for virtually nothing. No reason not to have a pile of them on hand imo
That’s core
