Simple as the headline, current market was / is terrible for sellers but also great for the buyers. Many cool deals especially here in the US which is a nice opportunity to hop on a new ride.
I picked up a Revel Rail 29 160 GX for $3300 shipped. They had 5 in stock, 4 after I bought mine. Around 4pm the next day they still had 4 and around 7pm they were gone. A few smalls are left but the price went up.
Got a YT Decoy on a hell of a deal.... Didn't think I was going to own an e bike but when it cost less then my last Commencal amish bike things happen.
Got a used Carbon TR11 from a local guy at a really good price. Been a blast to ride. Destroyed my enduro bike way less. Only problem is every once in a while I forget I'm not riding a DH bike when I'm riding a trail bike and eat it as a result. Probably be a few years before I get another bike short of breaking one. Got a couple upgrades planned for the DH bike and just gonna spend cash on lift passes.
Not sure that I got any real deals but, for me, I have bought seven new bikes this year. Not all of them have arrived yet. I've also bought a Liv e-mtb for my wife and a couple of bikes for my boys (almost 2 years old and 6 years old). In looking at my history though, this is pretty normal for me over the last 6 years.
If you really want a list (mine only):
Generation 3 Pivot Switchblade (XTR build, stripped and upgraded to what I want)
S-works Epic 8
Mondraker Neat RR SL
Transition PBJ
Atherton AM 170
Trek Slash+ 9.9
Frameworks Enduro Frame only
Atherton and Frameworks haven't arrived yet but will before the end of the year. As you might be able to discern, I'm not really value shopping but really focused on what I want instead. Bikes haven't really gotten that much better over the last 3 or so years but every single one of these is outstanding.

I ordered the frameworks enduro too. Im really curious how the atherton 170 goes for you vs the frameworks though. When you get both please give us an update on what you think of those 2.

Will do. The Atherton seems more refined but the Frameworks one is more exciting to me.
I have little doubt both will be excellent but they’re different enough to find things to discuss.

Couldnt agree more. I could only afford 1 and was trying to decide between the 2. And im a sucker for limited so when i saw only 100 of the enduro being made i ordered that and then got the limited edition worlds o chain. Plus the more grass roots look of the frameworks is kinda cool with a gold 38

🤣 I just went out to my garage to take a picture of the fork I have reserved for it…
I’m completely aligned with your style and thoughts on this one.

Ive got the same one sitting at home. You have a pair of 165mm kash money 5 dev cranks sitting around too? I like your style. Now im curious. Did you also go with the float x? Were gonna end up with the same build lol

How do you decide which enduro bike to take?
Edit: forgot the Slash+ is an e-bike so never mind!
I haven't purchased yet, but I have a whole spreadsheet of enduro bikes all lined up. Going to get the best one. Still deciding between a Strive, a Tracer Expert, or a Capra. Maybe a Meta with Ohlins.... Hmmmm...

What do you do in life haha?
I thought I had a lot of spare time and barely managed to ride 2 mtbs enough. Can't imagine 5+ within a year.
This year is the first year where I haven't bought a new bike but will probably be looking to replace my ''downcountry'' bike and my dreadnought over the winter.
Bought a Kona during that big kerfuffle. Fun bike but the modern ones aint like the old ones. So gonna sell it.
Bought that Poseidon Norton to fuck around with a hardtail build. The stock wheels and drivetrain are better than I thought so probably keeping those. Maybe swap everything else. Not sure yet.
If I had unlimited moniez I would be YT's best customer right now... Their values are insane. The new DH27 and DJer look awesome. Could only dream of having them side by side in my garage.

I run global technology programs and have 3 kids and a wife that has a more intense job than I do but I just make it a priority to ride nearly every day and rarely ride the same bike two days in a row. It does help that I can be on a trail in less than 3 min from my garage if I want and do 20 miles regularly before work. I also spend a lot of time on conference calls and during certain times of year I'll ride while on calls that are more me listening than speaking. If I need to say something I will just pull off and talk or answer quickly. As a result of this I can tell you where every single dead spot is within 25 miles of my house and know when I can be in those vs when I can't. Basically, as the boss/leader in these implementations I have a lot of flexibility but in order to do that it often means that I'm answering emails/doing computer based work from the time my kids go to bed until midnight or later. I've never, at any point in my life, regularly slept more than 5.5 hours/night and honestly cannot recall the last time I woke up "tired" so I'm fortunate there as well.
Still, I don't ride some of them enough for sure but that doesn't stop me from always trying new stuff 😀. Oh and to answer the other thing that was asked, I just pick a bike I want to ride that day. Sometimes I ride my heavy ass enduro bikes on XC trails and treat it like training with a weighted vest. Sometimes I ride the Epic on trails where it doesn't belong. Always a game time decision. I don't think I'm particularly attached to any bike though and if I notice I never chose one then it gets demoted to our vacation house where I keep two bikes. When one moves there then one that is already there gets sold or donated.

Just picked up a brand new Yamaha Moro 07 for $2800…. I love my Moro Pro so much I figured can’t go wrong with a little upgrade !!

I bought a bunch of bikes this year with the pricing in the gutter.
2022 Santacruz Nomad 6 (frame only)
2022 Giant Trance X 29 (for my wife)
2022 Transition Relay
2021 Giant Revolt
I need the market to crash the price of the new Bronson frame first.

I picked up a Trek Rail 9.8
Wasn't really in the market but need some knee work next year so I unloaded the dirt bike and picked up a nice E-bike.
So far it's incredible. When I ride with buddies that don't have an emtb I rarely need to use the battery if at all.
My non-electric is a Scott Ransom, also newer and picked up on mega clearance.
Post a reply to: Market is crashing … so how many new bikes you got?
