Hey, i just wonder, if the rockshox superdeluxe ultimate coil 2023 is good and reliable ?

My fox dhx2 works fine but it's not reliable. 20rides and you have to do the service..

I am looking to buy the rockshox but i want to read some review about it ?

Anyone here ride it ?

I’ve heard great things. Not many details, just general positive feedback. I’ve been considering trying one myself.

It's simply amazing. For the price and ease of adjustability I think it is the best coil shock on the market. I haven't rode some "high end" brands like Push or EXT, but I just can't believe that anything could perform better, especially if you are looking at spending DOUBLE the money. The compression adjustments are intuitive to use, easy to see where you're at, and all actually make a difference in trail feel. Not to mention the HBO control, amazing feature. All in all, I think I will have one of these on my bike for the rest of time.

Echoing this review.

When my Factory Float X2 blew up for the second time in 6 weeks, I managed to snag a 2023 SD Ultimate Coil (205x65mm trunnion, on a 2022 mullet Transition Patrol). Been absolutely loving it for the past 5 months, lots of riding in varying conditions from bone dry from our extended summer into dank wet season here on the north shore in Vancouver. As a heavier guy, I like the HBO to control end stroke while leaving compression fairly open for traction on steep tech stuff.

I also thought about the EXT Storia but it costs around 60% more here in Canada and I just couldn't justify that much more money. The DHX2 is also about 25% more (with an SLS spring) and while I have loved the previous generation DHX2 on DH and trail bikes in the past, I didn't want to give Fox money after the disaster that is the current X2.

My dhx2 last 20 rides i think before i had noice in it. I buy it 400€ (second hand) without coil and i think i can sell it the same price with coil.

The RC is like 450€. For a shock you will be more reliable and easier to set i think it's a good opportunity

For the moment in europe all rockshox coil are out of stock, it seems it will be back in stock end of march

I have one on the Enduro for about a month or two. I really like it, especially for the price it costs, it works really well.
Previously I had X2 air which needed service every few months because of well-known issues and the previous version of the super deluxe.
Partially the reason why I like it is probably also because it is a coil shock, I didn't have one for a few years, so I cannot compare it. All in all, I am really satisfied with it. I was dreaming about getting Ohlins or Ext, but I could hardly justify paying 2x-3x times more. Also, it will be probably easier to get support and parts for RS. I really like that lock is very firm, so there is no bobbing when pedaling on smooth surfaces.
HBO sounds nice, but I didn't do any testing on how well it works. I had one harsh landing when it was set on -1 and a week later when it was set to 0 the same landing was nicer, but also compression was set to higher and maybe I've also landed a little nicer. To test it I would have to repeat some flat landings multiple times, which I'm not too thrilled about Smile .

I am waiting for SAR spring, to bring the weight down a little bit. It weighs about 1kg with RS spring.

Thanks for you review dude !  My bike est very progressive so i don't know if the hbo is a must have but for hard landing it could help i think

I would like to know if the RC works as good as the dhx2 and if it's reliable. I hope some guys here can tell me their comparaison between those two schock Smile

But the biiig point, i just want to ride all the summer without fear of break the shock as the dhx2

I don’t have any experience with fox or rs coils, but the first coil shock I have ridden is dvo. I’m a fan. And around 4 bills it is reasonably priced.
Not to derail the op, but why does dvo get such a love/hate relationship among biker peoples?

I was working at a shop for awhile and we had noting but issues with the DVO stuff on Rental bikes. All the forks developed crazy stiction. The shocks didn't have any issues like that but they weren't as smooth as the RS, and Fox stuff. That was their last gen stuff though so maybe the issues have been addressed?

I've got one on my Privateer and it's amazing, the 161 isn't overly progressive so I wanted a coil with HBO but couldn't justify the price tag on most of the higher end coils. My 161 came stock with the last gen SDlux air and the difference going to coil was night and day, traction on the climbs is insane, and on the downs it's almost indescribably fast. Third ride on my local 3min track (in prime condition) I cut 14s off my fastest time on the air can. I also appreciate the "fewer" options on compression since each click makes a noticeable difference where other shocks I've had I'd have to do 3-4 clicks to feel anything discernible. I highly recommend it.

There are some sizes left here, I just bought one. It's going to replace a Fox Float X, I'm interested to see how it compares

Appreciate your engineering efforts! Will be using one for a long time to come. Amazing product. Becoming a big fan of all the new SRAM/Rockshox line of components. Need another product tester? Smile ha. Cheers

I'm on the new Zeb on 2 bikes, 1 has the new SDU air and 1 the new SDU coil, this is the best feeling suspension I've had on any bikes thus far. New air shock is very good but the coil is as good as any of the high end EXT/Push coils, easily. For half the price it's a no brainer. Really happy!

I bought a 2022 Super Deluxe Coil to replace a blown up X2 about a month or two before the 2023 model was launched.  I wonder if it's worth the upgrade (or should I do something like send it off for a Tractive tune instead)?

Edit: Apologies for the hijack

The difference between air shock and coil is incredible for sure. But i prefer to ride airshock during enduro season ( winter), more pop and lighter. I think RC coil 2023 can bring some pop with the bottom out adjustement

Still no body here to compare the RC coil 2023 with others coil shock ?

I guess this is too new damper to have a lot of opinions about its work already.
I, on the other hand, am interested in whether there is a version with bearings in the mount? Nukerpoof Mega requires such a solution. I can see that the pre-sale prices are very attractive.

Outside of the HBO, is it worth upgrading from the SD RCT Coil ?

I’m running a Tractive Super D air and it’s awesome! Running it on a Hightower V2 and since that bike can only run air it’s the closest i think I can get to the traction for days coil shocks. This bike is fast as hell now tho. The way it can generate speed AND track the terrain is pretty amazing

? I don' t understand

And "boozed" i think, even the 2022 coil ultimate is better than the air shock 2023.

The coil bring grip and confort. You can find the same feeling with an air schock

I heard on a forum that, some RC 2023 schocks had problem with the bottom out screw. On big impact the screw lost the seal

i don't know if it's true or not
