Did You Ever Jump Your Age In Feet? In Meters?

Jumping your age in feet can seem trivial to some, but depending on when you got into MTB, it could be a proper old challenge. Say you started riding at 30, you're now staring at 30+ feet to join this somewhat illusive club - and it only gets longer every year. Of course, if you started riding at 7 and you live in Whistler, you probably cleared the challenge within your first few weeks on a bike. As for that exclusive second tier...jumping your age in meters...well, if you're 15 and hit Crabapple, you just barely qualify...needless to say, this elite circle has far fewer members!

Did you ever jump your age in feet? In meters? Tell us your story!

I got pulled in with a water ski rope from a moto and hit a 30 footer at 15, so I doubled my age!

I sent the Space Ape 45-footer at Trestle pretty deep (maybe 50 feet) when I was 14, it was probably one of the sickest/scariest things I've done on a bike.

The candy land tables at angelfire and a big step down I built both got me well past my mid 20's in feet.

Maybe not 45', but I do recall when the trail was still fairly raw, that booter was a bit bigger than it is now.

The coast gravity park's sign reads, jumps are 25 to 50 feet on flight deck. With allowance for landing past lip, I might have jumped my age at 52.

Cool thread. When I was 44 I hit this 48 foot gap at the 2010 US National Championships in Sol Vista. Miss that rad park and it's original trail crew.

I'd put the Space Ape step down at about 25' max.

I'm 29, so I've got my age in feet on a bicycle for sure, but I think the only thing I've sent that far in meters is a snowmobile back when I raced snowcross.

I did Complete the challenge! :D it was 16 meters soo around 52 ft. Yeah and it was not flat flight :D it was Dirt like Jump for Downhill bikes, on the jumps we made for ours Freeride Jam in Poland Smile Here's the Proof: http://www.pinkbike.com/video/414019/

Go my age and double my age pretty often in feet, 25 years. Went meters or close to a couple years ago, took the bottom jump in crabapple to near flat with a tail wind.

At the beginning of the 2013 season it was 45 ft., but they dialed it back a while ago because so many people were casing it and getting hurt.

How far is the middle one on Crabapple?
Longest gap on A-Line? I'm 43 now and think I could still hit a proper 43' footer, but haven't seen one measured out in a long, long time.

The original road gap around the curve at Snowshoe and the original ramp road gap at Snowshoe...huge, but don't know distance. Anyone?

Man, looking at this picture made my gut tighten up. That remains the biggest thing I've done on a mountain bike, the crowd of seasoned pros sitting there scared in first practice told the whole story.

When I was in my teens and early 20's I hit the age in feet all the time, now at 30, not so much.

But that was also on a BMX.

I've definitely completed the jump your age in ft! But am close to metres as I have hit full Moto at black mountains cycle center at 15, their biggest jump clocks in at 40ft so am at 13 metres!

I'm 48, so no thank you. I might be tempted to do something really gnarly these days, but that kind of gap is a big no.


On a motorcycle, I've got a few years to go before I get too old for my age in meters, however; I've done some BIG gaps on one of those. Foolishly, perhaps. It's been a few years.

EDIT: OK, after careful measuring on Google Maps, I realized it was more like my age in meters when I was 32. Wow, it has been a few years!!!
