Could say the same of the Aurum. Can't imagine YT have the cash to meet Gwin's demands? If I was any middle to large sized bike manufacturer that was profitable I'd pay him what he asks, and hope to create a legacy.

If I was a millionaire I'd pay him to ride 26inch bike with old parts on it to show the world that not the bike but skills and mental attitude brings the medals.
Just want to watch the world of mtb manufacture burn ];->

Could be Carson Storch, who lives in Oregon, picked up red bull a few weeks ago, and just posted a photo on his own instagram of himself riding a maiden... But I guess Gwin could have gone to Oregon, picked up a giro helmet and taken a maiden for a spin.

No insider info, just speculation. If KTM is a big-time (title?) sponsor of his program, I can't see how he could use another brand's frames - specifically, why on earth a bike brand would want to share branding with a competitor (KTM bikes are rare here, but go to Eurobike). KTM doesn't currently have a DH bike, but it would still be a brand communication nightmare. Sure, there was a time when everyone was riding badge-engineered Intense M1s, but times have changed. Even if KTM moto and KTM bike are separate companies, the outward brand ID is the same. If I were a bike co. boss I wouldn't want my star rider's kit and bike plastered with a competitor's logo.

So I see three possible scenarios:

Gwin is gonna ride something else entirely (big industry sponsors plus a frame deal), keeping his little KTM deal on the side

Gwin is gonna ride for "big" KTM and they're doing a Honda-esque R&D project (ie no plans to produce his bike)

or

Gwin is gonna ride for KTM bike + moto jointly, both divisions contributing (plus other sponsors, TLD, Red Bull, etc.)

...this is fun... and honestly the only big sponsorship shake-up I don't have insider info on. Smile
You do realize that KTM motorcycles and KTM bikes are almost completely unrelated?

How unrelated do you think John Q. Public thinks they are when they have the same exact name, logo, and colors? That's the issue.
So do you also realize that since they are different companies, KTM motorcycles has zero competition from any mountain bike company? That's a pretty non-existent issue, and if you want to talk about brand communication, I think it's a way bigger deal that a totally different company is making KTM bikes, which are supposedly pretty whack.

interesting, I've used Troy Lee protection and apparel the last two years have loved it, everything has held up amazingly for as often as I would ride with it.

Anyway not to deter from topic. Possibly stay in TLD helmets like Hill and Peaty but wear different apparel?

Same here. TLD has been the only biking gear I've found to be worth a hoot. I have one of the original Sam Hill d3's still going strong still on the original pads, and my Ace and Skyline shorts are fuckin tits
