i think that podium finishers and a random rider or 2 are tested at every UCI race. steroid use is screened in the test and not legal. not 100% sure though.

here's the 100 page UCI Drug Regulations Document if you want to really get educated. and maybe some others can chime in on it.

Typically those that get busted get caught with THC in their system, I havent heard of anyone losing out or being disqualified for anything but THC with regards to MTB

Only way that Fairclough (and most DHers) would get screwed is if they started banning Alcohol as a performance enhancing drug!

I'm of the opinion that drug use isn't prevalent in DH because there is so little money/fame to be gained. If you could earn millions and become a household name by winning we'd see more of it.

I remember when Chris DelBosco was stripped of his National Champion title for testing posetive for THC. That would suck! I think it's the only reason Duncan Riffle has a National Champ title.

well, if after a dose of beta blockers, you still get a rush from the course,then you know that's the gnarliest ride on the planet.
but seriously a mild enough dose to keep the jitters under control but not lose the edge. yeah, i can imagine a few guys aiming for the top popping a taste of the BB..

Duncan won another one if I remember correctly. I think he got 5th at that race, he was top American though

JD Swanguen got his 3rd place taken away at the US nat's for having "THC Metabolite" in his system. if anything, that would make him slower
