Size-Specific Geometry and Kinematics and 2.1kg Frame Weight? Meet the LAST CINTO
Made in Germany, not a single detail has been overlooked with this light-weight mountain bike from LAST.
s1600 LastCintoBike 572590

Passionately developed with details in mind and precisely hand manufactured, every CINTO becomes outstanding. Limited to 100 pieces per year.

  • Frame weight from 2.1 kg (4.63 pounds)
  • 145mm suspension travel
  • Size-specific kinematics and geometry
  • Bikepark-approved and modular frame platform

"The CINTO provides precise feedback and has lots of pop for playful and active riding. The suspension is nicely progressive, the bike pedals very well and is neutral under braking. Its versatility and nimbleness is inspiring every time." - Jörg Heydt | LAST

CINTO - THE CONCEPT

The CINTO is designed to be an All Mountain Bike - the category of bike for every day and all opportunities. The requirements for such a bike are manifold and it is difficult to avoid compromises. With the CINTO we have developed a bike that offers solutions: Perfect function and performance, low weight and the toughness to back you up. Designed by our team with a passion for good geometries and precise handling. With the TARVO - the lightest enduro frame - the potential of the frame concept has been proven and showed that our production technology and the materials blend into an exceptionally capable bike. This concept is the base for the CINTO. We put quality first and limit the CINTO to 100 pieces annually - hand made in Germany.

FUNCTIONAL LIGHTWEIGHT

The weight is the simplest obtainable comparative value of a bike. And it isn’t the worst, since everyone realizes the dynamic and liveliness of a light bike. To have fun on the long term and to be capable in rough terrain, the CINTO isn’t reduced to lightweight, but reflects all aspects that make it a LAST. The suspension is highly efficient and comes along with a geometry that suits our riding style: fast, agile and airborne. That’s why we build a reliable bike that takes you to the trail and not to the workshop. But first to the lightweight nature of the CINTO and how we realise it.

The CINTO takes advantage of an optimized layup using the directional strength of the carbon fibres to their full extent, combining strength and stiffness. Furthermore the material properties make a flex pivot possible. The true potential of the material is maximized by the careful draping of the plies on the surface of the mould. Front and rear triangle are laminated in a seamless piece. The so called monocoque is cured in an autoclave process, where the high pressure guarantees for best compaction of the plies. The used carbon fibres are strong and have a high elongation capability to deal well with extreme loads. The CINTO uses the same modular platform like our enduro bike TARVO. The frame was tested by EFBE Prüftechnik. We approve the CINTO for use according to ASTM F2043-13 category 5, bike park and racing.

GEOMETRY - A GREAT ALLROUNDER WITH SIZE-SPECIFIC OPTIMIZATION

Based on a 29 inch Rock Shox Pike with 150 mm travel and 42 mm Offset.

A good time on the trail, independent of the gradient, and efficient climbing were the focus during the geometry development. The 65 degree head angle and the balanced ratio of reach to chainstay length result in confident cornering. The modern, steep seat angle of 77 degrees provides a comfortable and efficient climbing position.

The short seat tube length and the straight seat tube allow riders to size up or down, depending on their preference. To provide a start point for sizing we named the sizes according to the for sizing we named the sizes according to the typical rider height: 165, 175, 185 and 195. The matching stem lengths range from 35mm up to 60mm.

For the CINTO we provide growing chainstay lengths that starts at a short 431 mm for the 165 and increases up to 443 mm for size 195.

PROGRESSIVE SUSPENSION SYSTEM

The CINTO provides a sporty-progressive suspension system with a minimum of rockers and bearings. Our philosophy is to generate mid travel resistance with a progression in the leverage ratio and without too many volume spacers or excessive damping. From SAG point to bottom out the CINTO provides 29% of smooth progression which makes it suitable for air and coil shocks alike.

SIZE SPECIFIC ANTISQUAT

Pedalling efficiency is generated to a large extent by a well-fitting anti-squat value. The value depends on the kinematics of the bike and the height of the rider’s centre of gravity. To always achieve the optimum anti-squat, we adjust the position of the pivot points for each frame size and the expected height of the centre of gravity. The blue graphs show the anti-squat values for the four frame sizes depending on the rear cog (x-axis). For comparison, the grey curves show the values for a non optimized system. It is easily recognizable that the blue lines are closer to each other, especially for low gears.

ANTI-RISE

The anti rise value determines how the suspension behaves under braking. A value around 100 % is considered to be the optimum, since the suspension behaves neutrally at this figure. This means that the application of the brake has no disturbing influence on the suspension system. The size specific optimization results in four almost identical blue curves, that appear as one thick blue curve in the diagram.

LOCAL PRODUCTION - KNOW-HOW AND QUALITY

The CINTO is made in Germany. This allows us to use the most advanced technologies at our partners. Their know-how is essential for the manufacturing of the CINTO.

LAMINATING OF THE CARBON PARTS AT ALL AHEAD COMPOSITES

The front and rear part of the frame are each produced as a whole in one mould. Due to the monocoque design, it features a consistent laminate structure without any weak points. Heavy joints where material is doubled up are completely eliminated. In addition to the quality of fibre and matrix, the manufacturing quality is decisive for the lightweight construction potential. Only if the prepreg layers are optimally pressed together, a load-bearing structure can be created. This requires craftsmanship and care as well as the masterful control of the manufacturing process itself.

In the autoclave process, the material undergoes strong compression due to the applied pressure. At the same time, a vacuum is created in the laminate to remove residual air. Careful process control using measurement data allows the quality of each individual component to be verified. The high processing quality makes it possible to reduce the amount of material to the required minimum.

Prepregs are used for the CINTO. Prepregs are carbon fibre mats pre-impregnated with resin. The fibres are produced in Japan and the pre-impregnation and weaving is done in Italy.

UL - Machining of the contours and bearing seats in the frist clamping position. LL - Final machining of the inside surfaces in the second clamping position on the 5-axis Hermle at Debus Frästechnik. UR - Raw material and the status after the first machining is finished. LR - The rocker arm undergoes CNC machining, grinding, polishing, anodizing and laser etching.

CNC MACHINING TO PERFECTION

The seat stays of the CINTO don‘t feature a yoke. The gained space makes the short chainstays (of the smaller frame sizes) and the steep seat angles possible. To stiffen up the rear the rocker arm is machined from a single billet of aluminum. All six bearing seats are machined in one clamping process to guarantee precision and parallel axes.

PRODUCTION OF THE STORAGE COVER

The storage cover nestles exactly with the down tube shape. Each frame size has a specific cover. CNC cutting from high strength aluminum is therefore the best manufacturing process for this part. The aluminum part of the cover weighs in at 43 g - just a little more compared to the section that is cut out. The closure is magnetic. A thin layer of protective material is glued to the cover for frame protection.

The outside of the cover is machined at high speed, the display shows 47334 rpm.

After machining the outside of the cover the part is passed to grinding. Later on the inside is machined. Finally the part is polished, anodized and marked with a laser.

CUSTOM PAINT JOB OR RAW FINISH

The lightest version of the frame does not feature any paint. The frame parts are deburred and minimal finish operations are executed. Finally the frame is rubbed with a wax-like finisher. The resin of the frame is UV-stabilized to protect it against sunlight.

With about 70 grams the paint jobs Lars Diedenhofen creates are very light and allow the customization of the frame. After a gentle grind of the surface the filler is applied. Next up is the paint. In a separate procedure the graphics are painted. Finally one or more layers of clear coat are applied. In between the frame is grinded several times to make the decals stealth, not in a visual way, but so that you almost can’t feel them.

The CINTO is available in dusky pink matte metallic and in blue matte metallic. On request other colors and complex designs are possible.

MX WHEEL SIZE OPTION

The CINTO can be set up with the MX rocker arm that allows it to use a 27,5 inch rear wheel. The big 29 inch front wheel provides low roll-over resistance and the smaller rear wheel gives more room to move around on the bike and more stiffness. The MX rocker arm is designed to maintain the bottom bracket height as well as the seat and head angle.

INSIDE DISCBRAKE MOUNT

To allow unhindered flex at the seat stays, the brake mount is on the inside. This appealing solution provides postmount 180. discs up to 203 mm diameter are possible.

UNIVERSAL DERAILLEUR HANGER

The TARVO uses the Universal Derailleur Hanger by SRAM which allows the installation of a normal rear derailleur - no matter which manufacturer. This is a great advantage since not only we use it – many bicycle shops will also stock this derailleur hanger, so it is always readily available, no matter where you are. From a technical point of view it is convincing that the thread for the axle is placed inside the derailleur hanger and in case of wear or defect it can be replaced by a new derailleur hanger easily.

Frame size 175 and 185 with big bottles.

ISCG MOUNT AND BSA BOTTOM BRACKET

If required, an ISCG mount can be rigged on the bottom bracket to attach chain guides or bash guards. The adapter is clamped to the bottom bracket as soon as it is screwed into the BSA thread.

CARBON DOWNTUBE PROTECTION

The downtube is protected by a generously sized carbon protector. This part is also laminated in Germany. It features a thick adhesive film on the backside for additional damping.

BOTTLE CAGE

The bottle cage mount is integrated with the storage cover. Sizes 175 to 195 can accept a big bottle in combination with most piggyback shocks. Size 165 fits a small bottle (approx. 500 ml) with most piggyback shocks. With some shocks a 600 ml bottle fits.

SPARE PARTS AVAILABILITY

All spare parts such as the chainstay protector and all bearings are available at short notice and will be available in the long term. So the frame can be used for years. Due to local production and keeping the molds on hand, we can also make whole frame parts available for a long period of time - should our crash replacement ever be needed.
