Oh word.  So, could I forgo the extra cable inside the frame if I just pull out my dropper to charge it? Also if your not on an internal routed cable frame and your wires come out by your BB, do you have plans for a shorter charging cord.

The cables are solely for charging and you can absolutely do without them without sacrificing function? Or does the frame routed cable also serve as signal transport?

Hi,

Yes, in some cases, removing the dropper post to charge it might work. However, given the vast variety of bike frame designs, we can't guarantee reliable wireless connectivity without the charging port, which also serves as a waveguide for the wireless connection.

As for bikes with externally routed cables where the wires exit near the bottom bracket, we do not currently have a shorter charging cable, but it’s something we might consider based on demand.

They have information about insertion on their site/kickstarter as well as 3d print files to test with. Cool idea, but I guess since their split with Bikeyoke they won't make one for the Revive?

I believe you're referring to the OG Bikeworks project. OnlyMotion has no connection to that. We developed our own electronic dropper post conversion kit from the ground up, completely independent of Gallagher or BikeYoke. Our solution is a unique approach, designed and tested in-house to provide the best possible experience for riders.

Their Kickstarter page has some info: "If your frame isn't listed, use the worst-case scenario measurement and subtract 38mm from your available space."

That said... 38mm is a lot (1.5 inches)

That's a great note, because the cable routing and lever/head thing at the bottom of a cable-operated seatpost adds total stack height to every cable operated post. It's tricky because that amount will be a little different for every post, and likely different depending on how tight of a corner the cable housing has to turn inside a particular frame's seat tube at max insertion depth. So 38mm of added seatpost length doesn't necessarily equal 38mm of lost insertion depth.

I think it's a cool solution that could be great for certain customers but isn't going to be ideal for everyone... like everything else.

We know that many riders in Europe are eager to get their hands on our electronic dropper post conversion kit. Our goal is to make the product available internationally as soon as possible.

Right now, obtaining CE certification, which is required for European sales, is a longer and more costly process. We are doing everything we can to make the kit available in Europe as soon as possible after the Kickstarter campaign.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have a more precise timeline.

I could imagine using this on my ebike, if it could be wired to the main battery. Beyond that, for me it does not really solve any problems, since the cable actuated posts all work very well, regardless if it is the OneUp v3, v2 or even the old v1. Also very satisfied with thhe oem posts Specialized specs their bikes with, they are robust and extremely reliable.

We wish OnlyMotion the best with their product. This is exactly what the cycling world needs--more small companies getting into the wireless market and breaking up the SRAM and Shimano stranglehold. There is another similar project on Kickstarter now for shifting. Just go to Kickstarter and search NXS.
