I wonder why they didn't run the 1st stage chainless and do a stagger start on stage 5 based on accumulated times of the previous stages? I did the race last year with that format and it was hella fun + mixed things up a bit.

Good review! I must say though I had a V1 for a full year of riding and loved it. Of course it had those wonky bush issues that made a pain in the ass to always service the thing. So I got the V2 as warranty deal/replacement. I bolted everything on it and went for a couple rides. I just couldn't wrap my head around this new iteration of the frame. It felt too big, too tankish for my taste. The older one had less travel and was easier to throw around. It also worked better with a 140mm fork...

Copying actually stifles innovation in the long run, and in your proposed model shifts the balance of power to those already at the top (Giant, Trek, Specialized, etc... anyone with the capacity to copy and produce on a large scale at low cost and with substantial marketing force). Dave did not use any technology that isn't available to anyone else, but he did use that technology in a new and unique way at the time. The rest is just shrude business. I mean 1800$ is really pushing it for a wheelset destined to be trashed on rocks and roots. It's not like that gucci pair of Zipps you only take out on TT race day. I truly think this carbon wheelset thing is getting out of hand price wise. Is there a SIGNIFICANT amount of performance gain between a set of those wheels vs a set of hope pro 2s on stan flows?? A perfomance gain worth almost 1200$ in difference. I just can't wrap my head around that.

I think that full on racing, meaning balls to the wall I want to win attitude, is best served by clipless pedals as they will get you the ability to push and pull and squeeze the juice out of every pedal stroke.
