THANKS, VitalMTB! Never thought my videos would see 500 views let alone 5000! For the haters out there: Yeah, I suck. But, I'm not so bad on a good day. As the title suggests this was my best (and worst) of 2012. This is every wreck I had that year along with some of the successes. Nearly every wreck you've seen has been preceeded or followed by MANY cleanings of the exact same obstacle so I do alright on my good days. If you looked through some of my other videos you'd see that. Considering the miles I put in...

bturman Liked a product review 2013 Test Sessions: Intense Tracer 275

Reviewed by Matt Thompson and Jess Pedersen // Written by Brandon Turman // Photos by Shawn Spomer Born and bred in the USA - these aren't words we can often write about bikes, which is why it was a real pleasure to hop on the latest version of the popular Tracer platform from Intense Cycles. Already available in both 26 and 29-inch versions, the Tracer 275 aims to gain the "best of both worlds" by utilizing the in-between 650B wheel size. Rather than simply slapping some slightly modified dropouts on the bike and calling it good, Intense went back to...

5/9/2013 12:39pm
Reviewed by Evan Turpen // Photos by Brandon Turman For the longest time Banshee Bikes were well off my radar. In 2007 I was a professional downhill racer and at the time their products represented heavy, overbuilt, and technologically lacking machines built for the “huckers” amongst us. That all changed in 2008, though, when they introduced the Legend MK1 downhill race bike and their unique approach to new product development. They released 50 frames to a select group of riders, racers, and engineers who all provided feedback that eventually went into the production frames. Banshee then went on to release...

Reviewed by Fred Robinson // Photos by Ian Collins // Studio shots by Fanatik Bike Co. After riding squishy bikes made out of aluminum down bumpy hills for several years, I had no real desire to try any other frame material for my downhill bike. I was happy with aluminum - no real complaints from me. That was until the day I saw a photo of a matte-black plastic Batmobile on two wheels and instantly thought to myself "I need that in my life, right now." There was nothing wrong with my current bike, it had modern geometry, bad ass...

Copying actually stifles innovation in the long run, and in your proposed model shifts the balance of power to those already at the top (Giant, Trek, Specialized, etc... anyone with the capacity to copy and produce on a large scale at low cost and with substantial marketing force). Dave did not use any technology that isn't available to anyone else, but he did use that technology in a new and unique way at the time. The rest is just shrude business. The bike industry is a capitalist enterprise, not an open source bro fest. For those of you newer to...

Patent trolling? The man owns the patents and is defending himself against what he feels is theft from the largest bike company in the world. Good for him. Sure the lawsuit (which it appears you likely didn't read) is the DW vesrsion of events as it should be, but one does not wisely take giant (and Trek) to court without a solid case. Patent trolling? Really? When was the last time you saw a US brand make a non-Specialized licensed FSR bike and get away with it? Do you think Giant would have let DW get away with the Sunday...
